ABOUT 'MILAGROS'

The word “Milagro” means “miracle” in Spanish & for those who aren't aware of what Milagros are, they are religious metal charms found in many areas of Latin America, especially Mexico and Peru. They are used when you are asking for protection & blessings & especially when something specific is needed in your life, whether its a physical ailment or material & are also carried for protection and good luck. These charms often depict praying people, angels, body parts of all kind, farm animals and a wide range of other subjects that are typically nailed or pinned to crosses or onto the clothing of wooden statues of various saints like the Virgin Mary or Christ, sacred objects or hung with little red ribbons or threads from altars and shrines. But simply said, they are used when you are asking for the much needed help you need.

DESCRIPTION:

Given an antiquity look, this Oaxaca Milagro cross is designed with the focus being on the Our Lady Guadalupe medallions, the praying winged angel & the Virgin Mary holding the baby Jesus.(See all photos) The backside is inscribed with Spiritual motif(See backside photo)

This has some weight to it & feels very solid, since it's made of a heavy gauge sterling & is given a rich oxidized finishing. The "Praying Angel" acts as the bale & has an opening that will accommodate nothing larger than a 7 mm diameter bead or smaller. If you put it on a sterling necklace, I would recommend hanging the cross onto something that goes hand in hand with the oxidized finish of the cross. You can also use a ribbon or leather cord, as shown in the mannequin photos.
