Hopi Puebloan Artist "MARCUS COOCHWYKVIA" - Impeccably Designed-Traditional Hopi Overlay-"Wave/Water" Designed -VINTAGE Sterling Cuff-UNISEX!- For 7-1/8" Large Wrist
$1,800.00

THE ARTIST:

Marcus Coochwykvia was born circa 1952 and is an highly acclaimed & recognized Hopi silversmith from Mishongnovi, Arizona, and who is a proud member of the Bear Clan. Marcus has been active since the 1970s, he is widely recognized for his extremely fine Hopi overlay sterling silver jewelry that is carefully designed with traditional motifs such as corn stalks, kachinas, animals, and flowing waves and water designs, with the latter being symbols held sacred by the Hopi, whose corn cannot grow without it..

Marcus couldn’t get away from learning from the best, and the best for him was learning silversmithing from his brother-in-law, Glen Lucas, who served as an instructor at Hopicrafts. Glen’s students praise him as one of the finest Hopi jewelers, being that his artistry and quality of workmanship were regarded as among the tops in the field. Lucas died in 1985. Marcus was also inspired by and learned from Hopi jeweler Roy Talahaftewa, while further developing his skills through early work with Hopicrafts. He specializes in the traditional Hopi overlay technique, and—apart from his distinctive bear paw stamp—Marcus appears to use the same hallmark as Glen (see second-to-last photo). He is featured in numerous reference books that cover collectible Native American and Southwest silver jewelry.

A PERSONAL NOTE ABOUT THE TECHNIQUE:

In a photographic sense, Hopi overlay can be described as a “figure-ground reversal,” where the positive space (the subject) and the negative space (the background) actively vie for the viewer’s attention. This striking visual contrast is produced through a careful, multi-step metalworking process in which the artist precisely cuts the design — (in this case, the traditional Hopi water and wave motifs) — from a sheet of sterling silver. The recessed background layer is deeply blackened through oxidation, while the raised top surface has more of a polished contemporary edginess, together creating the dramatic, high-contrast interplay between positive and negative space.

A WORD:

Fine Hopi jewelry is not as easy to find or as commonly encountered as Navajo, Zuni, or other Puebloan work. The Hopi have a smaller population and, naturally, far fewer active silversmiths, so authentic pieces tend to showcase distinctive, hand fabricated styles rather than being mass-produced. This was therefore a fortunate discovery—not only to offer such an impeccably made cuff, but to present a Hopi cuff by an incredibly respected and recognized Hopi artisan!

THE CUFF:

Impeccably designed with extreme precision, this cuff features our cherished “life-giving” water motif—an emblem of the essential force that nourishes crops and sustains all life itself.

Having a width that measures just shy of 2”, this is a cuff that carries a “timeless, classic” look, which is unlike many other vintage pieces that immediately announce their age. With this one, it’s hard to tell whether it was made more than 50 years ago or just last week — and its clean, enduring style will still read as fresh and elegant well into 2050 because of it’s contemporary factor!

SIZING:

This piece is designed to fit a larger 7-1/8” wrist size, and specifically not only a wrist that needs a larger/wider ‘east-west’ interior circumference,(2.50”-see photo 10) but for wrists that have a bit more "flesh" or fullness, as the gap has an opening of 1-1/4 inches. A wider gap is generally more comfortable for someone with a little meatier wrist, while a smaller gap tends to suit skinnier wrists better. To determine if this gap opening is right for you, you can measure the gap on a cuff that fits you well and compare it to this one. This HAS to fit properly, since it might not be able to be adjusted.

So please know your wrist size before purchasing, since cuffs fit different than any other type bracelet & it is of extreme importance they fit right! If you're not sure or have never measured yourself, please don't hesitate to contact me so I can possibly help.!! PLEASE GO THROUGH ALL THE PHOTOS,SINCE THEY PLAY A MAJOR ROLE TO THE DESCRIPTION.

IF YOU ZOOM IN ON THE LAST PHOTO,I WILL BE LISTING THE HOPI BOLO TIE ASAP!

Native Artisan-ALBERT JAKE-Mouthwatering Blue Kingman/Kazakhstan Turquoise Sterling Row Cuff-For Larger 6-7/8" Wrist
$1,350.00

THE ARTIST:
Sharing both Navajo and Zuni bloodlines, Albert Jake is a deeply passionate, widely recognized, and highly skilled jeweler who masterfully combines the perfect marriage of top-notch quality materials with his impeccable workmanship. Dedicating himself to his art by working five out of seven days each week, Al creates both traditional and contemporary Navajo jewelry, skillfully working in both gold and sterling silver.

Born on the Zuni Pueblo in 1959 and now residing in Albuquerque, Al is certainly no novice when it comes to silversmithing. Achieving this level of expertise doesn’t happen overnight or in just a few months; it takes years of repetition, patience, and relentless dedication to perfect his art. His extraordinary attention to detail and remarkable eye for form and balance set him apart as an artist who raises the bar consistently. He is by no means your "average, everyday" jeweler—his work reflects true mastery and a deep cultural connection.

SIZING:

Made to fit or either a man or a woman, this is made for a larger/wider size wrist that doesn’t need a wide gap opening to put it over the thickness of a fleshier arm. (1-1/8") The cuff isn’t as heavy as some of Al’s cuffs,so it’s right at the brink of being able to open the gap up some, to not being able to. So if you know how to adjust the gap, then this shouldn’t be a problem.. OR you can take it to a ‘reputable’ jeweler to do this. But just know, that by opening up the gap so it can then go over the arm, is the only thing that can be adjusted.. It does NOT change the 5-3/4" interior. It does help to know your wrist size & what gap your arm needs before purchasing, since cuffs fit different than any other type bracelet, so it is important they fit right!

If you're not sure or have never measured yourself, please click on this link: How To Fit A Cuff to know whether this will fit.. Also, click on this "You Tube" link https://youtu.be/bU6QwykAo7wsince they too give valuable info on the subject about how to properly put a cuff on! ..If you need help, please don't hesitate to contact me!

Sold Out
Highly Collectible-WILLIAM SPRATLING-Circa 1940 to 1944 - 5 Panel Link 980 Fine Silver (?) Bracelet-For Large to XL 8.5" Wrist! UNISEX!
$750.00

THE LINK BRACELET:

Sized to fit either man or woman, this piece can be showcased on its own or stacked with other Spratling and or vintage Taxco link bracelets or cuffs for added impact!

The hallmark dates the bracelet to the 1940–1944 period, and after roughly 53 years of collecting vintage Mexican jewelry, I can confidently say it bears a distinctive early‑’40s character.

It is made with five hefty panels, each designed from a single piece of silver that gracefully overlaps the next, thereby forming the layered design of each panel. Nowhere do they lose their form or structural integrity. The bracelet displays a soft, flowing "S" pattern, and every panel is joined to the next with heavy-gauge "O" rings. I suspect the 3.5" safety chain may have been added later by a previous owner.(?)

I notice the hallmark appears to have been stamped after the panel was made, but before the line that runs through the middle of each link was done, since the line cut into the hallmark and has separated some of the lettering (see last two photos). It’s said that with this particular hallmark — unless the piece is stamped with a metal purity mark — Spratling worked in 980 silver during that time period. Leaning on my experienced eye, ‍I do however believe this is more than likely made of 980 silver, just by the way it has gracefully patinated over time. But because they don’t make acid testers for 980 silver, I can’t confirm the 980 designation and can only test and verify whether it is sterling.‍

*****************

THE ARTIST: (September 22, 1900 – August 7, 1967)

Spratling was an American-born silver designer and artist, best known for his profound influence on 20th-century Mexican silver design. He played a major role in shaping the reputation of Taxco, Mexico, which later became world-famous for its silverwork because of him. Today, when we think of Taxco, two names immediately come to mind: Spratling AND silver.

Having an artist’s eye for design and a deep appreciation for history, Spratling was strongly influenced by the highly charged political and social climate in Mexico after the revolution. That environment helped shape his decision in 1931 to reestablish the silver industry in Taxco. Although Taxco had long been a traditional site of silver mines, the town lacked a native silver-working industry until his efforts revived and transformed its art heritage.

Spratling began designing works in silver based primarily on pre-Columbian and traditional motifs, and he hired skilled local goldsmiths to produce those designs in Taxco. As the primary designer for his workshop, Taller de las Delicias, Spratling maintained strong creative control and was insistent on the high quality of both the materials and the techniques used in production. He emphasized excellent workmanship, careful finishing, and faithful execution of his stylistic vision throughout each and every piece.

Talented artists participated in the creative dialogue with Spratling, translating his design drawings into finely worked silver, and it was during this collaboration that Spratling reshaped the market with a complete 360-degree turnaround — moving away from the prevailing old European aesthetic, toward a uniquely distinct Mexican vibe. Spratling's use of an aesthetic vocabulary drawn from pre-Columbian art can be compared to the murals of Diego Rivera, in that both artists actively participated in shaping and promoting a renewed cultural identity for modern Mexico.

Primarily, Spratling's silver designs drew upon pre-conquest Mesoamerican motifs, while also incorporating influences from other native traditions and Western cultures. For many observers, his work became a powerful expression of Mexican nationalism, providing Mexican artisans with the freedom and confidence to pursue inventive designs that moved beyond European forms.

Because of his profound influence on the silver design industry in Mexico, Spratling is widely regarded as the "Father of Mexican Silver" and deserves full credit for putting Taxco on the map as a center for some of the finest silver jewelry the world has ever produced.

Navajo Artisan - RANDY SECATERO - EXTREMELY Solid-Heavy Gauge Triangular -Sawed/Chiseled Design- UNISEX Sterling Cuff- For Large 7-3/8" Wrist- 3.57 Ounces!
$1,450.00

ABOUT RANDY SECATERO:

Coming from the Navajo reservation just west of Albuquerque, in the Cañoncito Band of Navajos community of To'hajiilee, NM, veteran artist Randy Secatero and his wife Sylvana have been creating traditional Navajo jewelry for many years now. He chooses to specialize in working with heavy-gauge sterling, employing deep hand-stamping and finely sawed and chiseled techniques to give each piece a bold, enduring character. Although he is best known for making these heavy-duty sterling cuffs, Randy has been making jewelry long enough to create virtually anything placed before him. He keeps his designs faithful to those of his ancestors while thoughtfully adapting them into more contemporary, yet still deeply rooted, styles. Randy is also the proud father of artist Wylie Secatero (see listings).

******************************

DESCRIPTION:

This incredibly made cuff is made with heavy zero gauge sterling & if gauge weight doesn't mean anything to you, the lower the number, the heavier & stronger the metal is. So this is lowest gauge it goes!! It is so solid, it would be impossible to bend it, it is that strong..

Randy’s a first-rate artist when it comes to creating these hefty cuffs, where each piece has a design within a design within the cuff.. With an unmistakable Navajo edge, Randy hand-chiseled and sawed the pattern and carefully executed all the deep stamp work, which is no small feat when working with sterling this thick.

Leaving the oxidation deep within the stamping, is what actually accentuates the tools he used. The remaining sterling has more of a contemporary mirror polished finishing. This look gives a contemporary look to a traditional Navajo style.

Made for a larger wrist that both men & women can wear & being that men usually like to keep it to a minimum in regards to how much jewelry they wear, this would be a perfect call! Would go perfect with some faded denim & a crisp white shirt!!

SIZING:

This piece is designed to fit a larger 7-3/8” wrist size, and specifically not only a wrist that needs a larger/wider ‘east-west’ interior circumference,(2-5/8”-see photo 5) but for wrists that have a bit more "flesh" or fullness, as the gap has an opening of 1-1/4 inches. A wider gap is generally more comfortable for someone with a little meatier wrist, while a smaller gap tends to suit skinnier wrists better. To determine if this gap opening is right for you, you can measure the gap on a cuff that fits you well and compare it to this one. This HAS to fit properly, since it cannot be adjusted.

So please know your wrist size before purchasing, since cuffs fit different than any other type bracelet & it is of extreme importance they fit right! Native American Artisan- ALBERT JAKE-Gorgeous Periwinkle Color Kazakhstan/ Golden Hills Turquoise-Sterling ROW Cuff-For 7" Wrist (For Man or Woman!)
$1,450.00

THE ARTIST:
Sharing both Navajo and Zuni bloodlines, Albert Jake is a deeply passionate, widely recognized, and highly skilled jeweler who masterfully combines the perfect marriage of top-notch quality materials with his impeccable workmanship. THE TURQUOISE:

These rectangular/square-shaped cuts of Kazakhstan Turquoise (Golden Hills) possess all the distinctive attributes that collectors and enthusiasts look for in this particular turquoise variety, making them some of the most sought-after pieces in today’s competitive turquoise market. When assessing quality, the primary factor often considered is the color. Specifically, when it comes to turquoise, the depth and vibrancy of color play a crucial role in determining its overall value and appeal. Turquoise from most mines varies widely, encompassing stones that range from having the richest, deepest hues to those exhibiting very faint or minimal coloration. With that in mind, the Kazakhstan turquoise featured in this stunning cuff bracelet showcases an exceptional richness and depth of color that is highly prized by buyers. It radiates the true and unmistakable “Periwinkle” shade, characterized by rich, dark tones of lavender that create a breathtaking contrast when paired with lighter blue areas. These cuts further reveal their unique red/brown brick matrix patterns—an identifying hallmark of this specific mine—adding a layer of natural artistry to each stone. Much like a fingerprint, each cut is truly one of a kind, boasting its own individual characteristics that make it uniquely beautiful and irreplaceable.

*******************

THE FINISHING:

Emulating a look as if naturally aged over time, the sterling is SO beautifully oxidized, yet it maintains just the perfect amount of lightness that truly elevates this finishing to a whole new level! I have some of my absolute favorite artists when it comes to understanding precisely where and how much oxidation to leave, and Al is one who ranks extremely high with me for mastering this delicate technique. It takes just as much skill and artistry to know exactly how to achieve this balance as it does to create a finely made piece of jewelry itself. Having this expert skill not only brings out the inherent beauty and character of the sterling silver but also perfectly accentuates any colored stones or intricate deep stamp work that may be present, enhancing the piece’s overall visual impact and uniqueness.

*******************

SIZING:

This piece is designed for a slightly larger wrist size of approximately 7 inches, but specifically for wrists that have a bit more "flesh" or fullness, as the gap has an opening of about 1-1/4 inches. A wider gap is generally more comfortable for someone with a meatier wrist, while a smaller gap tends to suit skinnier wrists better. To determine if this gap opening is right for you, you can measure the gap on a cuff that fits you well and compare it to this one. If you find that it needs to be adjusted, I recommend taking it to a reputable jeweler who can make those modifications, as I do not offer adjustment services myself. Please keep in mind that any adjustment will only change the size of the gap opening and will not alter the interior circumference of 5-3/4 inches.

So please know your wrist size before purchasing, since cuffs fit different than any other type bracelet & it is of extreme importance they fit right! If you're not sure or have never measured yourself, please don't hesitate to contact me so I can possibly help.!! For more info on cuff fitting, please click on this link to see if this will fit:  How To Fit A Cuff I also recommend you copy & paste the You Tube link I have there, which covers the right way of putting a cuff on & explains things I don’t.

Native Artisan-ALBERT JAKE-Exceptional-Premium Grade - Royston Turquoise "Sampler" Sterling Row Cuff-For Larger 7-1/8" Wrist
Native Artisan-ALBERT JAKE-Exceptional-Premium Grade - Royston Turquoise "Sampler" Sterling Row Cuff-For Larger 7-1/8" Wrist
$2,400.00

THE CUFF:

We here at Plata de Santa Fe Jewelry, do nothing but drool with excitement whenever premium turquoise jewelry comes our way!

This particular piece is designed in a stunning 7-stone row cuff, made exclusively with the finest turquoise that the Royston mine produces. What truly captivates us about this cuff, is the great eye Native artist Albert Jake has, who handpicked these 7 premium cuts of turquoise, each showcasing at least 7 distinct colors famously known to the Royston mine.

Created as a “Sampler” representing the full spectrum of Royston turquoise, the colors begin at the center with a polychrome cut that beautifully displays both blue AND green hues. From there, the stones transition to a soft sea green, to a rich deep teal green highlighted with a golden brown matrix (one of our absolute favorites!) The arrangement continues with varying shades of turquoise blue tones, making the entire cuff a vibrant mosaic of nature’s artistry. The beauty of this sampler selection lies in its variety of tones, which adds striking contrast, with a less uniform look, enhancing the piece’s visual interest!

Traditionally made, the stones graduate in size & line the center of a 12 gauge sterling shank that has a scalloped shape perimeter, where Al tastefully used the appropriate stamp that follows this scallop shape. Accentuating the stamp work is based on the oxidation being left deep in their crevices. This is what brings out the design that much more!

One subtle yet remarkable feature that photos fail to capture is the ‘glassy, glossy, spit-shine’ finish on each stone’s cut. This high gloss luster actually is something that validates the stone's quality and hardness. It’s important to remember that the harder the turquoise, the higher its quality.

Chalky, soft, low-grade turquoise cannot produce the same glassy, glossiness after cutting and polishing...Therefore, premium turquoise is judged by a combination of hardness, it’s ability to take a spit shine gloss, and color. Lastly, with these harder cuts, you won’t experience the color changes that happen over time like lower grade stones do, since they are more porous, ensuring a lasting beauty that stands the test of time.

SIZING:

Made to fit or either a man or a woman, this is made for a larger/wider size wrist that doesn’t need a wide gap opening to put it over the thickness of a fleshier arm. (1-1/8") This cuff isn’t as heavy as some of Al’s cuffs, but because of the sterling gauge he used, doesn’t allow this to be the easiest to adjust. If you do need a slightly wider gap, you could possibly take it to a ‘reputable’ jeweler that knows how to do this. But just know, that by opening up the gap so it can then go over the arm, is the only thing that can be adjusted.. It does NOT change the 6" interior. It does help to know your wrist size & what gap your arm needs before purchasing, since cuffs fit different than any other type bracelet.

PRICING IS BASED ON: You are paying for not only the name of the Artist & his decades old reputation, but mostly it’s each cut’s quality, the cost paid per carat for this over the top type of quality and the amount of carats ,the sterling cost at time of purchasing it, the artist’s time, which are all reflected in price.

Native Artisan-ALBERT JAKE-Exceptional-Top Notch Quality-Premium Grade - Green Royston Turquoise Sterling Row Cuff-For Larger 6-7/8" Wrist
$1,950.00

ABOUT THE PREMIUM ROYSTON TURQUOISE:
Used for this cuff is a carefully selected sampling of some of Royston’s most beautiful green turquoise! But it’s not just the phenomenal green tones that take center stage in this cuff; but equally important, is the outstanding quality of each individual stone. It's not every day that we come across turquoise this sweet and personally speaking, there is nothing more exciting to see in southwestern turquoise jewelry, than jewelry being made with some of America’s finest turquoise!

With so much low-grade, soft turquoise flooding the market today—often needing stabilization (treated) to even be cut—Albert takes great pride in using only the finest materials, reflecting the era when turquoise quality was held as highly as the workmanship itself.

One subtle yet remarkable feature that photos fail to capture is the ‘glassy, glossy, spit-shine’ finish on each stone’s cut. This high gloss luster doesn't just highlight the beauty but also validates the stone's quality and hardness. It’s important to remember that the harder the turquoise, the higher its quality. Chalky, soft, low-grade turquoise cannot produce the same rich luster after cutting and polishing...Therefore, premium turquoise is judged by a combination of hardness, it’s brilliant luster, and rich color.

Kewa Puebloan Artist-'JOEL PAJARITIO' (Anthony Lovato's Son) Egyptian Turquoise-Sterling Tufa Cast "Corn" Cuff with Petroglyph Interior! -6.50" Wrist
Kewa Puebloan Artist-'JOEL PAJARITIO' (Anthony Lovato's Son) Egyptian Turquoise-Sterling Tufa Cast "Corn" Cuff with Petroglyph Interior! -6.50" Wrist
$2,250.00

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Kewa Puebloan artisan “Joel Pajarito” has had two significant influences that have inspired him throughout his relatively young career as an artist, which spans 41 years. Growing up in a household filled with talented artisans, it is difficult to imagine Joel being where he is today without the impactful presence of his father, the award-winning artist “Anthony Lovato,” as well as the nurturing influence of his grandmother, “Mary Coriz.” Drawing inspiration from both of these remarkable artists, it was ultimately his father, Anthony, who imparted to Joel the intricate art of Tufa Casting—an art form that he himself had learned from his grandfather. From his grandmother Mary, Joel absorbed the rich traditions of Puebloan jewelry, an art that traces its roots back to his Ancestral Puebloan ancestors from the storied Chaco region of New Mexico.

Now, as an accomplished artist in his own right, Joel’s creations have garnered considerable popularity and have caught the attention of numerous buyers, all due to the extensive range of creative designs that he offers to the public. He has the unique ability to seamlessly blend contemporary Native styles with traditional methodologies. Through his work, Joel transports us from the ancient walls of Chaco into the present day, designing many pieces that feature Petroglyphs drawn on those historical walls. These elements serve not only as a testament to the past but also help keep the significance of the Petroglyphs alive in his vibrant and meaningful designs.

THE CUFF:

Sharing the spotlight are 2 things; One is the “Corn” design & 2, is the fabulous chunky cut of Egyptian turquoise, which is still mined from the original, ancient mines of the Sinai Peninsula.in Egypt. This stone comes from the same mine that once supplied legendary Pharaohs and Kings.. It’s known for it’s strong brown/red matrixes, which is evident in the cut.

The stone is bezel set atop of a 1-7/8” width shank that has a highly textured appearance, due to the Tufa. The cuff has a dual design, meaning it is not only designed on the top,but the interior as well! The top has the “Corn” design, which if you follow his father Anthony’s work, you will recognize this. The interior is just as impressive, where Joel filled it with various Petroglyphs! (See photos towards the end) Because the tufa cannot be used twice, makes this a “One of a Kind” cuff!

If you love sets, please see Anthony’s “Corn” designed rings that come in a size 7-1/4 & a size 9! They are listed under the Women’s RING category!

SIZING:

Sized for a man OR woman, this cuff is made for a larger size wrist that’s a little bit more "fleshy" & needs a wider gap opening to put it over the thickness of a fleshier arm. (1-1/4" gap) Because of the thickness of the sterling, this would not be the easiest to adjust.. So it does help to know your wrist size & what gap your arm needs before purchasing, since cuffs fit different than any other type bracelet, so it is important they fit right!

$1,895.00

FIRM ON PRICE

CUFF PROVENANCE: (Appraised at over $3000)

This classic Navajo cuff came through my store by the son of the original owner. He inherited his father’s pieces that the father had collected since the 1950’s.The son was telling me that nobody in the family wanted these, nor would wear them, so that’s when he considered bringing them to me. The father etched his ID # on the back of each piece I purchased (See hallmark photo at end),which was very common for that time period.. Many times an owner would put their social security # or certain numbers that would identify the owner in case if anything were to happen, they could identify it. The son also showed me a paper where this was appraised for over $3000.

THE CUFF:

Made in a classic Navajo design that was made where the sterling work sits shyly in the background, while the stones take the centerstage spotlight. These 5 cuts line the center, atop of a tri-wire shank below, which the outer north & south wires are made with ½ triangular durable heavy gauge wire, whereas in the very center, is a twisted heavy gauge wire. (See 2nd to last photo) Because of the sterling’s hefty gauge, makes this non adjustable.

THE SEAFOAM TURQUOISE:

The term “Seafoam Turquoise” does not refer to a mine, but rather refers to visual characteristics, which are color and shape. Seafoam turquoise actually could come from any number of mines. There is slight variation in color, which tells me that these stones are not treated, since stabilized turquoise will not change over time. These may have been a tad bluer when new & now after time, I would say they’re more of a teal green. The chunky natural stones are all in their “free form” nugget like shape and sit high in their secure bezels.

THE HALLMARK:

The only “F. Begay” I know of is “Francis Begay”, but they are usually signed “F.L.Begay”. From having been in this business for decades now, I do know that artists change their hallmark over time, so whether this is one of Francis’s earlier cuffs, I am not sure.

WRIST SIZE:

This is made for a large sized 6-7/8" wrist, but because it has a 1-1/4" gap opening, this is meant for a somewhat fleshy, more meaty wrist. Because of the design & sterling’s gauge , this cannot be adjusted, so it's of extreme importance that you know your wrist size and what gap opening works best for it to comfortably fit over the arm before purchasing. Just so you know, the gap has a lot to do with your arm size,(or wrist area) so the bigger the arm, the wider the gap should be. The skinnier your arm is, then you want to go with a smaller gap opening. If you have a cuff that fits you well, you can measure the gap opening on it & compare it to my measurements.

Cuff's are one of the only bracelets that HAVE to fit properly, so If you're unsure, click on this link: How To Fit A Cuff.  And while there,be sure to copy/paste the You Tube link, which shows you the “Proper” way to put a cuff on! I am an email away, so don't hesitate in getting in touch with me if you need!.

If you zoom in on the last 2 photos, you’ll see the matching ring that’s also made by the same artist & is listed under the “RING” category.. The ring is a size 9-1/2

Traditional Navajo Artisan "TSOSIE WHITE"-PREMIUM-Natural-Blue Royston Turquoise Sterling Row Cuff-UNISEX-For Larger 7" Wrist
$1,895.00

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

When Navajo Tsosie(Orville) White stepped out to go to work over 30 some years ago,it wasn't to make jewelry, but rather as a carpenter & a mechanic.. But thanks to Tsosie’s wife, since it was actually she, who influenced the younger Tsosie and was the contributing factor that turned him around to where & who he is today..He has done nothing but make a reputable name for himself in the industry and no matter what he makes, Tsosie's work will always have that traditional Navajo charm, with impeccable workmanship that validate all those years he has now put in.

His eye for form & balance between stone & metal is precise and will show all the time AND love he pours into each & every piece he makes, no matter how small or how big!!

THE CUFF:

Dominating the spotlight, is some of THE prettiest Royston blue turquoise you’ll lay your eyes on! And whether you know quality in turquoise when you see it or if you don’t know, you’ll be able to look at these & know they stand apart from the more less expensive, lower quality cuts of turquoise that are out there! It doesn’t take skill to know these are some PREMIUM stones!

Made in a row cuff style, these stones were hand picked for their color & quality. The 5 cuts lay atop of a traditional Navajo made 3/4” width shank & in between each cut, Tsosie made all the small appliques that spice up the design a bit. The shank is hand tooled & is left with an oxidized finishing in order to accentuate the stamp work.

Because of the straight perimeter, you can either wear this alone or stack it in between other cuffs for more statement. It will look as handsome on a mans wrist, as it look as beautiful on a women’s!

WRIST SIZE:

This is made for a large sized 7" wrist, but because it has a 1-1/8" gap opening, this is meant for a wide wrist, but for a wrist that is not so fleshy/meaty. Because of the gauge of sterling that Tsosie used, the shank is right on the brink of being able to adjust it somewhat. So if you know how to adjust a cuff (without popping stones) & feel confident enough to open the gap up a bit more, this can be done. If you don't know how to do this, then I would take it to a reputable jeweler. But just know,by opening up the gap so it can then go over the arm, is the only thing that can adjust... It does NOT change the 5-7/8" interior.

Cuff's are one of the only bracelets that HAVE to fit properly, so it's of extreme importance that you know your wrist size & what gap opening you need for it to go over your arm comfortably, before purchasing. If you're unsure, please click: How To Fit A Cuff" .And while there, be sure to copy/paste the You Tube link, which shows you the “Proper” way to put a cuff on! I am an email away, so don't hesitate in getting in touch with me if you need!.

PRICING IS BASED ON: You are paying for the name of the Artist & his reputation, the sterling cost at time of purchase, the artist’s time, the turquoise quality, the cost per carat for this type of quality and the amount of carats , which are all reflected in price.

Old School Navajo Artist-LEON MARTINEZ- Traditional Navajo Made- Natural Royston Turquoise - Heavy Gauge 4.83 Ounce Sterling Cuff- For Larger 6-7/8" Wrist
Old School Navajo Artist-LEON MARTINEZ- Traditional Navajo Made- Natural Royston Turquoise - Heavy Gauge 4.83 Ounce Sterling Cuff- For Larger 6-7/8" Wrist
$4,500.00

LEON’S RETAIL PRICE: $4500-

Using a fabulous looking cut of natural Royston turquoise that owns a ton of character, Leon kept the sterling work somewhat in the background with this one in order to put the main star of the cuff, in the forefront. The rock is just over 1.50” x just under 1.50” (1-3/8”),so this is a serious sized stone!

Its earthy brown matrix dominates it’s overall coloring & overshadows the turquoise color, which peaks through in the background by having just enough turquoise color to let you know that it’s turquoise. For those of you that aren’t familiar with Leon’s work, this is an artist that happened to come up in a time, where using only ‘natural-premium quality’ turquoise was of extreme importance, so it shouldn’t surprise anyone that he used this type of quality.

This is made as traditional Navajo as Navajo jewelry gets and is entirely made by hand. So all those little beaded concho accents that follow the shape of the stone, Leon made each & everyone of those, where he melts the sterling into beads, so then they can be carefully placed in precise order around the stone. All are hand stamped. On the east & west side of the cut are 1/2 moon shaped ‘fan shields’ that give a traditional Navajo look to the design.

The face sits on a 5 split, ½ triangular wire (My guess is 14-16 gauge wire? ),so that when put together, they give the shank the durable strength it has. The “Matte-Satin” finishing is one of my personal favorites, since it gives a soft glow to the sterling, as well as making everything ‘POP”!! This finishing also has a lot to do with how gorgeous it looks on the arm & helps to capture the design!

WRIST SIZE:

This is made for a large sized 6-7/8" wrist, but because it has a 1-1/8" gap opening, this is meant to fit a wide wrist, but one that is not so fleshy/meaty. Because of the shanks strength, I personally cannot open the gap.. But if you know how to properly do it or have a personal jeweler you trust, you can take it to them.(This is something I do not provide) Just so you know, the gap has a lot to do with your arm size,(or wrist area) so the bigger the arm, the wider the gap should be. The skinnier your arm is, then you want to go with a smaller gap opening. If you have a cuff that fits you well, you can measure the gap opening on it & compare it to my measurements.

Cuff's are one of the only bracelets that HAVE to fit properly, so it's of extreme importance that you know your wrist size before purchasing. If you're unsure, please click: How To Fit A Cuff" I am an email away, so don't hesitate in getting in touch with me if you need!. You can also pull out a cuff that fits you well & compare it to my measurements.

PRICING IS BASED ON:

Artist, artists reputation, sterling cost, the artist’s time, the turquoise quality, the cost per carat for better quality turquoise (As opposed to treated or lower grades) and the amount of carats are all reflected in price.

THE ARTIST:

Gallup based Navajo artisan Leander Tahe, is an artist who pushes the boundaries & shows no limit as to what he can do.. This qualified & highly creative artist can go from giving us these undeniable traditional Navajo pieces, but then can turn around & go completely modern on us.. But when it's all said & done, whatever he makes, he'll be sure to pour his whole heart & soul into each piece! His precision & attention to detail, impeccable repousse work are all something you'll immediately notice where you will never have to question how long he's been at it, because you will be able to see the years he has behind him in his work & what separates him from beginners...He is personally one of my all time true favorites for his mathematical & artistic approach to jewelry!!!

**********************

THE CUFF:

Impressively designed with a very architectural ambiance, this cuff shows the pristine beauty of Leander's work! This beauty screams "Navajo" & is beyond remarkably made!

Designed with Leander's signature heavily oxidized finished sterling, this cuff weighs a HEFTY just under 4 ounce weight.. It's made with a heavy gauge sterling shank that Leander used as the base for 3 twisted wires to lay atop of the shank, but the twisted wires are hidden by the hand made domed conchos that you see on the exterior.. By raising the middle center wire is what gives this cuff the 'raised/domed/triangular' look it has, thus making this, one very unique looking cuff! (zoom in on all the photos!)

There are 9 traditional Navajo conchos in it's entirety with there being 3 that are highly raised in the center & 3 conchos (per side) nearing the terminals that lay closer to the shank.(see photo 5) Of course, all the conchos are made by the hands of Leander, where he shows his 'repousse' skills that he is actually a master at doing! This cuff stands appreciation for the skill & remarkable design!!!

My guess is the shank's made with possibly a 6 or maybe a 8 gauge sterling so it's very durable & not flimsy like the more inexpensive cuffs. It's made for a larger wrist size that either man or woman can wear (7") & because of it's 1.25" gap opening, helps if your wrist/arm are a bit more meaty.

Cuff's are one of the only bracelets that HAVE to fit properly, so it's of extreme importance that you know your wrist size before purchasing. Native American ALBERT JAKE-Vivid Blue "Riviera" Turquoise-Heavy 12 Gauge-Old School Twisted Wire Oxidized Sterling Cuff with "Fan Appliques" -For Large 7-1/8" Wrist
$1,050.00

THE ARTIST:
Navajo/Zuni artist Al Jake is considered a 'Veteran-Seasoned' artisan whose work is high in demand & is asked for by name. Al has been at this now for decades, so he’s paid his dues & can charge a better price because of this.. And being he’s not a beginner, you’re only going to be getting the finest that the industry offers.. When you own something made by this impeccable artisan, you will understand why..You’ll be able to see it AND feel it.

He's an artist that will always make sure, no matter how small or large a piece is, each will have the cleanest, most meticulous workmanship, no matter how long or how little it takes to make.. Having bought & sold his work for years now, I can personally say that I have never, ever witnessed a bad piece of jewelry that has his name attached!

THE CUFF:

Gleaming as if it’s on a pedestal, is a soft trillion cut of Riviera Turquoise that sits atop of a shank, where Al went back in time & brought back an old school style twisted wire shank, where there's 4 twisted wires & a smooth square wire that lays down the center. His technical skills comes through on the sides of the cut, where he made 2 corrugated ‘fan’ shield style appliques & in order for the shields to lay properly along the curvature of the cuff, he placed 2 bars of sterling up under them that act as ‘raisers’ so they can properly lay.(See photo 6)

What gives this the weight it has, is for the gauge that Al uses, which is a heftier 12 gauge sterling. So it has some weight to it & feels extremely durable & non-bendable for it’s 5/8” width size!! If you zoom in on the last photo, you will notice the terminals are reinforced with sheet sterling, which give this area it’s added strength.

******************
THE FINISHING:

Emulating a look as if aged, the sterling is SO beautifully oxidized, but has just enough lightness that brings this finishing over the top & then some! I have some of my favorite artists when it comes to knowing where & how much oxidation is left & Al is one that ranks high with me for this technique.. It takes as much skill to know this, as it does to create a fine piece of jewelry. Having this skill, not only brings out the beauty of the sterling, but it also accentuates any colored stones or deep stamp work if there is any.

Traditional Navajo Artisan-ANDY CADMAN-Natural Webby Kingman Turquoise-THUNDERBIRD Sterling Cuff-For a Large 7-1/8" Wrist-Men's Cuff, Women's Cuff
Traditional Navajo Artisan-ANDY CADMAN-Natural Webby Kingman Turquoise-THUNDERBIRD Sterling Cuff-For a Large 7-1/8" Wrist-Men's Cuff, Women's Cuff
$1,200.00

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Gallup New Mexico based, traditional Navajo artisan "Andy Cadman" was born in 1966 is a 'modern-day' artist that stays true to his Navajo roots, while moving us into our present years. Andy is a highly sought after artist who has close similarities to other traditional-present day artists, such as the Reeves, Albert Jake, Guy Hoskie, Aaron Toadlena or even Tsosie White, where they use nothing but the highest grade turquoise & generally work in heavy gauge sterling.

**************************

THE CUFF:

Sharing the spotlight with a fabulous looking, webby cut of high grade Kingman turquoise, are hand cut Thunderbirds which are accented on the sides of the cut. This signature bird of the southwest, gives the cuff a very undeniable southwestern look!

The cut & the thunderbirds lay atop of a well executed shank, where right below the cut & the birds it has a scalloped perimeter, while at the terminals is left with a straight perimeter & corrugated lines. Oozing a old school feel, Andy left the darkened oxidation in all the crevices, so that when he polished the shank, they are then accentuated.

*************************

WRIST SIZE:

This is made for a large sized wrist that would be fit for one who not only has a wide left to right wrist size, but also who has a little 'fleshier"wrist . The 1-1/4" gap opening helps when you need a little wider gap to fit over the arm. Cuffs fit different than any other type bracelet & it is important they fit right! If you are unsure of your wrist size,I suggest you click on: "How To Fit A Cuff" and also I suggest you copy/paste the YouTube link I have there, that shows the right way, you should put a cuff on! Native Master Artisan - ALBERT JAKE - Sophisticated / Contemporary - 9 Stone - Premium Lapis - Heavy Gauge Row Cuff- For Larger 7-1/4" Wrist -UNISEX!
$1,800.00

THE CUFF:

Al didn't fall short by giving us nothing less than his superior workmanship in this well mastered cuff. Hogging the spotlight while taking center stage, are 9 generous oval cuts of Lapis that dominate the cuff and are all precisely matching in color & size. This alone,is what contributes to the well balanced and uniform look it has!

The 9 chunky sized stones sit on a 12 gauge sterling shank that span to just below the curvature of the cuff, so when it's worn, all one would see are all these beautiful dark blue cuts of Lapis that line the wrist! Alternating in between each cut, are 5 mm hand melted sterling beads that sit at both top & bottom.

This is made to fit either man or woman & would look equally as gorgeous on either! This is not a gaudy, over the top cuff & says what it's suppose to say in a more simple style where the Lapis say it all, rather than to be overshadowed by a lot of sterling work. And even though Native made, this is a showpiece that can be worn in OR out of the southwest & would go with a traditional Native collection as it will a contemporary!

************************

WRIST SIZE:

This is made for a large sized wrist and because of it's 1-1/4" gap, helps with a wrist that's a little 'fleshy' and needs a wider gap to put it over the arm. Please know your wrist size before purchasing, since cuffs fit different than any other type bracelet, so it's of extreme importance they fit properly! Navajo/Zuni artist Al Jake's work demands a higher price than most & it's pretty obvious why..After all ,when you've been doing this for years & spending every day,all day making jewelry, how could you not be this good?? The one thing about Al, is he literally pours his soul into every piece, regardless of how big the piece is or how small, just so he can be sure each have the cleanest workmanship & it doesn't matter how long it takes, as long as it's 'done right'..

It takes a mathematical, analytical mind,a sense of paying close attention to detail to do what he does.. And with all the years he's put in, he definitely knows what he's doing & why he's doing it & never do you have to question how long he's has been at it, because you will see it in his work.. **********************

THE CUFF:

Having a traditional/old school/vintage revival vibe,Al highlights this horizontally laid Lapis cut that shares the spotlight with the 4 directional crosses that are seen on the sides of the tooled shank.(See photo 8) The stone sits in one of Al's perfectly made serrated bezels that is finished off with twisted wire. The finishing is lightly oxidized, but left darker in the crevices so the design along the shank, is accentuated.

Al dropped the gauge of sterling that he had been working with, to now working with a heavier gauge, so the cuff feels solid & durable! But the one thing about working with a heavier gauge, is for the fact that they are harder to adjust.(if needed)

************************

WRIST SIZE:

This is made for a larger sized 7" wrist & either man OR woman can wear this! The 1.25" gap opening is great for one who has a little 'fleshier' wrist & needs a wider gap opening to put it over the arm. Because of the heavy gauge, doesn't allow this to be adjusted, so you would have to know your wrist size before purchasing since cuffs fit different than any other type bracelet, so it is important they fit right! Navajo Artisan-DAKOTA T. WILLIE-(Ronnie's Son) 6 Tiered Designed-Fully Tooled 2-1/8" Wide Sterling Cuff-Unisex-For Larger 7.25" Wrist
$998.00

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Born, raised & presently residing on the Navajo reservation in the town of To’hajiilee,(Toe-hah-jah-lee) NM, Navajo artisan Dakota Willie was born to make jewelry. And when you got the last name "Willie" & your father is RONNIE WILLIE, there's no way you can escape the art of creating jewelry, because just about everyone in the family makes jewelry & all have made a name for themselves in the industry & are known worldwide. (See my Ronnie Willie, Tawny Willie (Cruz), Cooper Willie,Shaminika Willie & Rudy Willie listings who are just a few of Dakotas cousins & the latter being his uncle.)

Dakota learned like many Navajo children learn & whether it's the parents, the uncles, aunts or grandparents, in Dakota's case it was his father Ronnie Willie (See my listings) & his mother who took Dakota under their wing when he was only 8 years old & has now been making jewelry for 23 years.

Dakota is an "Artist" & not just in jewelry design, he also spends his time as a clothing fashion designer, loves to paint & loves doing anything that's artistic & creative..He specializes in traditional Navajo jewelry & many are made with a contemporary edginess..
********************
THE CUFF:
One thing you can automatically see in this cuff is the love & the creative artistry that was poured into making it!

Designed in a wide setting on one solid sheet of sterling,Dakota made this in a tiered type design, where there are 6 different horizontal patterns happening within one piece, which it makes for an interesting design!

This was done using repousse techniques, as well as intricate stamp work from end to end. It has a contemporary edge being it has a mirror polished finishing & then was left oxidized in all the crevices to accentuate all the incredible deep stamping! This cuff displays just how skilled Dakota is as an artist..

It's made with a 16 gauge sterling so it's durable, but not heavy, heavy like some Navajo cuffs.. It's made for a larger wrist size that either man or woman can wear (7-1/4") & because of it's 1.25" gap opening, this will accommodate a more 'fleshy' wrist that needs a wider gap. If you're not sure of what wrist size you have,I suggest you click on How To Fit A Cuff all the way to the bottom, as well as copy/pasting this You Tube video,(below) which also gives some valuable info!

https://youtu.be/bU6QwykAo7w

This isn't your everyday sterling cuff that you find in every store, nor throughout the internet, but rather a cuff that is a "one of a kind-artisan made" piece that stands appreciation for the skill & design behind it.

Santa Fe Artisan - SHANE CASIAS - Hand Forged - Heavy INGOT Skinny Sterling - Dual Shaped Contemporary UNISEX Cuff -7-1/8" WRIST
$895.00

** YOU CAN LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS POPULAR SANTA FE ARTISAN BY CLICKING ON “ABOUT THE ARTIST’!

DESCRIPTION:

Made in a contemporary modernist type style where all Shane needed for this, was nothing but plain sterling..No stone, no nothing that would steal the spotlight from it's simple all sterling aesthetic.. Totally made by hand, this skinny cuff is made the old school way, where it's made from ingot sterling that then was pounded out over & over & whipped into shape by hand forging the metal by working the metal that was then later filed & smoothed..

What is different about this design from other sterling cuff's you'll find, is for the fact that if you look closely at the photos you'll notice how 1/2 of the cuff has a 'square' feel & is a bit wider, while the other 1/2 gracefully blends into a rounder shape. On the square part,Shane left it a tad more oxidized which accentuates the pounded texture marks.

I do want to mention that because this was not made of your standard sheet sterling like most cuffs are,but rather because it is made in ingot, Shane had more control as to how thick he wanted the shank. For as skinny as it is,this has some weight to it! It is super thick & literally non-bendable by hand!

It has that understated look that men love ,but would look just as great on a woman who can choose to wear this alone or stack it with her other cuffs!!

This is made for a larger size wrist but one that is not so ‘fleshy’ where you need a larger gap opening.. If you need my help, please don’t hesitate in contacting me! I will guide you the best way I can. Cuff’s are the only bracelet that have to fit RIGHT, so knowing your wrist size is extremely important.. If you're unsure..click on the link about “ How To Fit A Cuff “

Santa Fe Artisan- SHANE CASIAS- Masculine "El Rey" 5 Crowned Skulls- Repousse UNISEX Cuff - Some with Missing Teeth! For Large 7.50" Wrist-1-3/4" Gap Opening!
$1,850.00

‘“HAND MADE IN SANTA FE!”

Anything Santa Fe artist Shane Casias makes is always high in demand, but nothing is more popular than his Skull jewelry & it's pieces like this, as to why internationally known Rockstar’s have his back! They LOVE his skull jewelry & proudly wear it for their audience's to see!

Called the El Rey” skull cuff, this comes with over the top statement, but designed in a understated size that men love! It's masculine enough for any man, but for those women who love skulls, this would also be a great winning choice!

Packed in, in a 1" width, are 5 raised skulls that alternate with a vertical pattern of repousse work & the perimeter on both sides, has a scalloped designed edge. Within those 5 crowned skulls,3 of the skulls have 'missing teeth' which helps to give some laughter to their character!

The sterling has some weight to it since it's made with heavy gauge sterling, so it nice & durable & not weak like some cuffs you may find out there!

WRIST SIZE:

This is made for a hard to find XL 7-1/2” wrist size that's on the “manly-fleshier" side.. Not only is this made for a larger wrist size, but it also has an XWIDE gap opening to go over a meaty arm! Remember the gap is just as important as the interior size of a cuff.. If you're not sure if this will fit, please refer to How To Fit A Cuff & while there, please copy & paste the YouTube link, where you’ll also find valuable information that I don’t cover. Cuff’s are the only bracelet that have to fit perfectly, so it’s important that this fits properly !

If you zoom in on the last photo, you’ll find another Skull cuff I have listed of Shane’s & can be found under “Men’s Jewelry/Bracelet’s”..

Navajo Artisan - RONNIE WILLIE- New Mexico "Zia Crosses & Arrows"- EXTREMELY HEAVY- Wide 8 Gauge Sterling Cuff- 7-1/2"- Unisex!
$1,895.00

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Although New Mexico based Navajo Ronnie Willie calls To’hajiilee,NM his home,he presently resides in ABQ.NM..Ronnie was the 1st artist who started making those heavy gauge cuffs that are fully beaded & that have crosses that lay atop & generally come with various colored stones..Art runs through Ronnies blood & loves creating by being a sand painter, sand caster,Kachina carver, rock sculptor, wood carver, which most of these things he does more on the side, since he mainly focuses on silversmithing 5 out of 7 days a week..He makes his own stamps & other tools he uses to make his jewelry, which give his work it's own identity..He is considered one of the best in present day jewelry & its a guarantee you will be getting a piece of jewelry with only the finest, quality workmanship.

***********************

DESCRIPTION:

Like most of us proud New Mexicans, Ronnie simply can’t deny his deep love and strong pride for being a true New Mexican! For those of you who live in New Mexico or who simply adore our rich cultural heritage and incredibly artsy state, wearing a cuff like this makes your connection clear. It boldly expresses exactly how you feel about New Mexico and honors the Zia symbol that represents all of us. The Zia cross is New Mexico, and New Mexico is the Zia — inseparable and full of meaning

One thing the artist needs to have is muscles to do this kind of deep stamping with a gauge of sterling this heavy! And to do the design so accurately takes skill & good dexterity, since it's made with a non-destructible-super heavy 8 gauge sterling, this is a cuff that's meant to last a lifetime & beyond! If being 8 gauge means nothing to you,it literally means that it can't be bent, adjusted & is the most durable when it comes to strength. This, the width & the length is what dictates it's 7.28 Ounce weight!

Ronnie made this cuff exclusively for my store & is designed with 3 Zia crosses that span the top & sides of the wrist & is accented by east-west double arrows throughout. What looks like "Kiva Steps" are stamped along the perimeters.

This is masculine enough for a 'manly man' to wear, but will also show beautifully on a woman! It is made for a large 7-1/2" wrist size & if your 'fleshy', the 1-1/2" wide gap opening helps with it fitting. This does have to fit properly since it CAN'T be adjusted.

"NEW MEXICO TRUE"!!

Santa Fe'an Artist- DENNIS HOGAN- 5 Panel Ingot Sterling "Lone Star"- Soft Deer Skin Concho Belt Buckle Bracelet- UNISEX! See Sizes in Description!
$895.00

UNISEX-MADE FOR MAN OR WOMAN!!!

SALE FOR ONE BRACELET-CHOOSE FROM THE LONE STAR OR THE CROSS BRACELET!

ABOUT DENNIS HOGAN:

A TRUE Santa Fe favorite,(and I say that with honesty!) there's literally nothing that Dennis doesn't make that doesn't have a breathtaking look, with this bracelet being THE perfect example! And if you're lucky enough to own anything by him, well then, that's when you realize WHY he's one of the Southwest's most sought after artists whose work is very HIGH in demand & with each day that passes, continues to grow...

After having met another Santa Fe favorite "Charlie Favour" in Abiquiu, NM. years ago, Dennis learned the lost art of leather work & worked as Charlies apprentice before moving to Santa Fe, where he eventually started his own line of jewelry/leather. After years & years of producing 1000's of pieces, he's now recognized on a major level for his old coin jewelry, leather/sterling jewelry & hand forged Ingot sterling jewelry. With all this attention, everyone wants a piece of Dennis, but he's a 1 man show & can't keep up with his workload. .He once told me "It's hard to teach someone with the kind of work I do", which I can totally understand, since "No one can do it like you"!

His jewelry has a look of the past, along with incomparable workmanship & made to have a real western edge, where each of his pieces have a vintage essence.. Each are done with the most amazing finish that is based on his secret hand finishing that produces THE most beautiful, warm patina tones that have a look of the past.

You will also see at times, Dennis's work being worn on the DD Ranch clothing models.

THE BUCKLE BRACELET:

Pull out your western boots on, grab that crisp white cotton shirt, put on some ripped denim & then buckle this on your arm, because If you want that "Look of Santa Fe or the Southwest", well this is it!

Dennis makes some extraordinary jewelry, but it's these buckle leather bracelet's that I would call his more popular!

These are like having a concho belt for the wrist!! Having a rock steady western edginess, this is made with 5 panels of thick gauge ingot sterling that Dennis literally 'pounded' into shape! What's equally impressive is that even the hardware is hand made from ingot!

The panels are threaded through the buttery soft Deer Skin leather & have 5 holes punched in the leather where the “Lone Star” design is sized from an 8-1/4" to a 9-1/2" & the “Cross Design” is sized from 8” to 9”.So this will fit all sizes in between the latter sizes.

These are a real keeper & will only feel AND look better with wear!!! Only ONE in stock with each design, so don't wait for someone to grab it!

Sale Price:$1,350.00 Original Price:$1,500.00

VENDORS RETAIL PRICE: $1500-ON SALE NOW!

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Delbert's work commands a higher price than most, and it's easy to see why. Widely regarded as a veteran "Master Navajo Artist," he has made incredible jewelry now for literally decades and has been instrumental in shaping the careers of many, including his nephew Derrick Gordon whose work now has reached a wider audience, as well as numerous traditional Navajo Gallup jewelers active in the industry today. Delbert is the 'go-to" guy & the one they look up to when they need technique/inspiration.

Personally speaking, Delbert's work is beyond extraordinary and remains firmly anchored in his Navajo roots, staying undeniably traditional so you never have to question his tribal affiliation. He ranks high on my list of true personal favorites, because for him it's not just about making a ring or a cuff — it's about transforming each piece into a true work of art. He is an artist who avoids "plain" designs, but instead becoming known for his layering ‘upon layering’ by hand making embellished appliqués that give every creation depth, character and identity.

He’s an "old school" artist, meaning he refuses to buy commercially made or prefabricated parts; instead he follows the methods of his ancestors, making every single component from scratch that goes into his intricate metalwork. He draws inspiration from the stamped patterns of the old masters, believing that careful, skilled stamping is what helps a piece truly stand out while bringing the metal to its fullest level of beauty and character.

SIZING:

Because of the tapered shank, these ‘cigar band’ type rings measure differently when put on the ring mandrel. If you zoom in on photos 8 & 9, you’ll see that the face of the ring measures differently on the mandrel (Size 12-1/2) than when it’s flipped & measured on the tapered underside of the mandrel. (Shy of size 12) Personally, I feel you should wear a ring size in between the 2 sizes which would be about a 12-1/4 or so, so this is what this will be listed as. This is only my opinion, but the final decision will be your call!

PLEASE VIEW ALL PHOTOS SINCE THEY PLAY A ROLE TO THE DESCRIPTION-I HAVE 2 MORE ALL STERLING EMBELLISHED RINGS OF DELBERTS THAT ARE LISTED UNDER THIS SAME CATEGORY & VARY IN SIZES

PRICING IS BASED ON: Not only have prices greatly increased at nearly every place I shop, but the cost of what artists are now having to pay for sterling has sky rocketed in price. Factored also into the price for this, is mainly Delbert’s name and the dues he’s paid behind his decades old reputation in the industry, Also included is the need to compensate Delbert for the time and expertise required to make the ring! Sadly to say, this was made after the price of sterling had gone up.

Master Navajo Artisan - WILBERT MANNING - Multi Colored Stone / Lapis - EXQUISITE LAPIDARY!- Cobblestone Channel Inlaid- Zuni SUNFACE- Masculine Sterling Man's Ring- Size 11 3/4
Sale Price:$1,350.00 Original Price:$1,500.00

THE ARTIST:

Gallup-based Master Navajo artist Wilbert Manning doesn't just create jewelry; he creates "Fine" Navajo jewelry—and I mean that literally. Regarded as one of the few who have truly mastered the intricate techniques of mosaic inlay, cornrow, and or cobblestone inlay, Wilbert elevates these methods to a level that few others have achieved, producing jewelry that stands out for their precision, artistry, and timeless Southwestern character.

Working in both gold and sterling, he presents a rich blend of tribal motifs that he then weaves into his impeccably made jewelry, offering evocative Navajo and Zuni depictions that transport you straight to the reservation. Frequently you'll find finely rendered Navajo Yei figures alongside other Kachina representations, all beautifully mastered in his work; storyteller motifs brought to life in stone; and a broad, skillful use of Zuni elements such as sunfaces, rainbows, bears, eagles, and sweeping southwestern landscapes.

Wilbert is the teacher to many up-and-coming artists who rely on him for technical inspiration and steady guidance. One thing that can NEVER be said by those of us familiar with Wilbert’s work, is that he is just your “average”- "mediocre" artist. He is anything BUT that!

******************

THE RING:

This is a used, slightly vintage ring by Wilbert that is artistically created for the 'manly-man'! There are 2 dominate focal points that dominate this ring..1 is the Zuni Sunface & 2 is the precise lapidary work that is witnessed through out.

The focal point Sunface is done with a face of Onyx & eyes of turquoise & what looks to have a small cut of Wild horse turquoise. While shimmery yellow mother of pearl and black onyx inlaid into the shell, these sculpted feathers sit at the north end of the ring, the bottom south end has triangular accents colors of green Gaspeite and what looks to be a stark white Alabaster and Italian red coral.

If you wear the ring with the Sunface going down toward the hand, the right side of the ring has graduated cuts of Lapis that get smaller as they veer to the back & has a cut of pastel salmon colored “Angelskin” coral & turquoise in between the Lapis. (See photo 5) The left side is done the same way, but only on the left side, it has a cut of Opal (Looks to be Man made opal) and Angelskin coral. (See photo 6) These graduate in size and all lay on a diagonal. The cobblestone channel cuts of Lapis are beautifully beveled as they sit tightly packed together. The cuts are mosaic inlaid into the "reptilian" looking cast ring. The shank itself tapers down to a 1/8" width.

Wilbert is a true "Collector's" artist. His jewelry are unique works of art, that are all creatively made with time-consuming, meticulous techniques, and designed to be cherished as long-lasting keepsakes.

I want to mention that when I photographed this and I’m not sure if this was deliberate in the design or if there might be one of the smaller cuts of Lapis gone? But if you zoom in on photo 8, you’ll see what I’m talking about. It‍ definitely does not affect the ring from being unwearable & being it is one of the tiniest of the cuts of the ring, I personally did not see this until then. Remember, close up photos make everything look gigantic & are much more magnified ,until you get them in hand which then you find things aren’t as major as they looked. But regardless, because of this, I will be discounting a bit off the regular price.

Highly Collectible Santa Fe Artisan, "Brett W. Bastien"-Hand Sculpted / Beveled - Turquoise / Italian Coral / Lapis - Vintage Cobblestone Inlaid Man's Sterling Ring -(11-3/4)
Sale Price:$1,350.00 Original Price:$1,500.00

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

When the well known & highly collectible Santa Fe’an artisan “Brett W. Bastien” was in his late teens, Mr. Bastien along with some assistance from his family friend, which was the renowned Chiricahua Apache sculptor ALLAN HOUSER, Brett was granted an exceedingly rare privilege for a non-Native to become the first non-Native student accepted into the Santa Fe’s highly sought after “Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) and was allowed to take part in the jewelry instruction program led by distinguished contemporary Pueblo jeweler Duane Maktima and by Hopi painter and ceramicist Otellie Pasiyeva Loloma, wife of the celebrated Charles Loloma.

These names alone, say all there is to know about Brett, to have names like Allan Houser and Otellie Loloma who believed in you that much & what a high honor Brett must have felt to be accepted into one of Santa Fe’s most prestigious schools that are strictly Native American because of them!

Taken From: El Palacio Magazine, Santa Fe, 2014(Read Below)

Santa Fe jeweler Brett Bastien, known as “Big White Boy” for his six-foot–four-inch stature and “BWB”(Hallmark initials share both for his name & “ Big White Boy”!) jewelry hallmark, was the first “Anglo” student accepted at IAIA. Although he did not attend during Houser’s tenure (Houser had retired by that time), he credits Houser with helping him get accepted into the school. 'He actually wrote a letter so I could attend,' said Bastien. 'I moved to Santa Fe in 1984. Houser had been featured in Arizona Highways. I really wanted to meet him. Then, as fate would have it, he wandered into my parents’ store—Indian Trader West, on West San Francisco Street.' Bastien and Houser developed a friendship that would last for the duration of Houser’s life.”

THE RING:

This highly collectible ring is an older ring of Brett’s, but I can’t give a definite year.. My guess it’s either from the 1990’s or early 2000’s.

Created in it’s entirety, is a technique known as “Cobblestone Inlay” (which is not to be confused with “Cornrow inlay”) Cobblestone inlaying requires a highly skilled jeweler to hand-shape, bevel, and polish each individual stone before setting them into either gold or sterling silver.. This of course is made with the latter, where the cobblestone inlay is laid in a wide tapered shank.

Each cut lays tightly against the other & is designed with various sized and shaped cuts of blue turquoise. On the center front lays a linear shaped Italian red Coral & Lapis that is separated with a sterling bar in between.

It’s masculine on the finger and a real keeper — a bold, timeless piece for the ‘Manly Man”! Brett’s work is not the easiest to find, and when you do, you snap it up! He was such a beloved and well-known fixture here in Santa Fe!

I want finally mention: I admire Brett’s unique hallmark! It’s done so that whichever way you turn the ring, it it still has the backward “B” !

Navajo Artisan-COOPER WILLIE-Natural Kingman Turquoise-Traditional Navajo Sawed/Chiseled Shadowbox Design-Man's Sterling Ring-Size 9-1/2
$650.00

THE RING:

Using the cut’s shape, which in turn dictated the face of the ring, Cooper stayed true to his Navajo roots and made the ring with an unmistakable Navajo aesthetic familiar in traditional Navajo jewelry. The stone is mounted in a shallow shadowbox setting, where the bezel is deliberately set apart from the ring’s face. (see photos). Around the face, saw-work follows the rectangular contour of the Kingman turquoise, echoing the stone’s geometry and enhancing the overall composition.

The shank is unique in that it features a dual finish—both an oxidized treatment and a more contemporary high-polish finish. Cooper also gave the shank a dual texture: the central area is rougher and intentionally oxidized, while the triangular and diamond-shaped accents that sit atop the shank are smooth and polished, creating a pleasing contrast.

Because Cooper used thick, heavy-gauge square wire around the perimeter, the shank has about 2.5 mm in thickness.. The shanks widest point measures 3/4” the area closest to the stone & then narrows down to 1/2” in the center bottom of the shank‍. ‍It‍ measures on the mandrel at a 9-1/2,but because the shank is wider, a person with a size 9 ring finger should be able to wear it.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

34-year-old Cooper was born, raised, and still lives on the Navajo reservation in the town of To’hajiilee (Toe-hah-jah-lee), New Mexico, just west of Albuquerque. He was fortunate to be born into a large family steeped in Navajo tradition and renowned in the jewelry world. Cooper is the son of Lonnie Willie (Lonnie is the brother of Ronnie Willie) and the brother of Tawney Willie, and he learned traditional Navajo jewelry from his father Lonnie — the same skilled teacher who trained the whole family, including Ronnie and his own parents.

Like Lonnie did with Tawney, he began Cooper's training by having him work with copper first, so that any early mistakes would not be so costly. He then taught him stampwork using nickel silver for practice. Cooper has taken those lessons from Lonnie, put all those valuable techniques to good use, and developed his own distinctive style while doing the work in his own way.

Having mathematical and analytical characteristics compels him to be the perfectionist he is, and one thing you'll never find him producing is mediocre jewelry. Regardless of price or size, he would never dare create anything less than his very best. This artist possesses an exceptional attention-to-detail, with a keen, spot-on eye that delivers impeccable results. His lines are clean and precise, and every element must be perfectly balanced and uniformly executed.

He specializes in heavy-gauge men's jewelry, focusing on extremely masculine rings, and is known as a true "manly-man" artisan—highly sought after by men who appreciate that bold, rugged aesthetic.

Navajo MASTER Artisan-DELBERT GORDON-Natural Blue Royston Turquoise-with Fan Shield Accents-Masculine Man's 925 Ring-Size 13
$1,098.00

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Delbert's work demands a higher price than most & it's pretty obvious why. Considered a veteran "Master Navajo Artist" that has been at this now for decades & is the artist that has taught & helped pave the careers for not only his nephew "DERRICK GORDON" but also many of today's traditional Navajo Gallup jewelers that you find in the industry.. Delbert is the 'go-to" guy & the one they look up to when they need technique/inspiration.

Delbert's work is beyond extraordinary & doesn't stray far from his Navajo roots by staying undeniably, traditional where you never have to question his tribal affiliation. He sits high on the top of my list as being one of my personal favorites, since it's not just about making the ring, or the cuff, but it's what he does to make each piece a work of art! He's an artist that doesn't do "plain" designs, but is known for his layering upon layering embellished appliques.

He is 'old school' for the fact that each & everything that goes into his intricate metal work is completely hand fabricated. He takes inspiration from stamp patterned designs from the old masters of the past and believes that good stamping is what helps to make a piece great.

Jewelers that started back in the era he had,it was important to use only natural, premium stones for their jewelry & with so many mines now closed down, it's hard for someone who came out of that era to settle for some of what's available in the industry today, especially when you have your name on it!

Delbert 1st hand picks his stones & then lets the stone dictate the design..He never knows what he is going to make until the stone starts to 'speak' to him & then builds around it with the most incredible embellished applique work.

PRICING IS BASED ON: You are paying for the name of the Artist & his reputation, the sterling cost at time of purchase, the artist’s time, the turquoise quality, the cost per carat for this type of quality and the amount of carats , which are all reflected in price.

THE RINGS

Using the distinctive cuts and shapes that then dictated the overall face's shape of the ring, Cooper stayed deeply connected to his Navajo roots and made these rings with an unmistakable Navajo style that is widely recognized and cherished in Navajo jewelry. The stone is expertly set in a shallow shadowbox setting, where the bezel is intentionally separated from the outer sterling silver perimeter on the face of the ring, creating a layered effect (see photos). The perimeter of the face features intricate saw work as well as finely chiseled detailing that meticulously follow the natural contours of the top-notch Kingman turquoise cut, enhancing the ring’s authentic aesthetic.

The tapered shank stands out as truly unique because it features two distinct finishes: one with a rich oxidized look and the other with a sleek contemporary finish. Additionally, it has two contrasting textures—the contemporary finished sterling is smooth and refined, while the base of the shank has a darkened, rougher texture that adds depth and character. The smooth, high-polished square sterling wire running along the top and bottom perimeter, not only adds a subtle touch of weight to the ring, but also enhances the overall design by introducing a sophisticated and eye-catching element.

Both rings have some killer natural Kingman turquoise! The 9-1/2 has tighter webbing & has a subdued coloring, while the size 10’s matrix is not so tight, but I do have to admit, it has a overload of character & incredible color!!!!

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

The 34-year-old Cooper was born, raised, and currently resides on the Navajo reservation in the town of To’hajiilee (Toe-hah-jah-lee), New Mexico, located just west of Albuquerque. Cooper feels truly blessed to have been born into a large and closely-knit family deeply rooted in Navajo tradition. This family has earned a respected name in the jewelry industry, with many members recognized as skilled jewelers. Cooper is the son of Lonnie Willie—who is the brother of Ronnie Willie—and the brother of Tawney Willie. He had the invaluable opportunity to learn the art of traditional Navajo jewelry making from his father Lonnie, who not only taught Cooper but also guided the entire family, including Ronnie and his own parents. For those interested, these family members and many more can be found represented in our listings under “Women’s Jewelry,” spanning nearly every category, showcasing a rich heritage of craftsmanship and cultural artistry.

Like Lonnie did with Tawney, he began Cooper’s training by having him work with copper, ensuring that if any mistakes occurred, they wouldn’t come at a very costly price. This careful approach allowed Cooper to gain confidence and skill without the pressure of working with more expensive materials initially. After mastering the basics, Lonnie then introduced him to stamp work, guiding him through practice using nickel silver, a material that offered the perfect balance between durability and affordability for learning intricate techniques. Cooper has since taken all the valuable lessons and techniques he learned from Lonnie and applied them effectively, while simultaneously developing his own unique style and signature approach, making his work distinctly his own.

Having strong mathematical and analytical characteristics naturally leads him to be the 'perfectionist' that he is, and one thing you will never find him producing is "mediocre jewelry." Regardless of the price or the size of the piece, he would never dream of creating anything less than the absolute best. This is an artist who is uniquely gifted with an exceptional "attention to detail" that is both spot on and impeccable. His lines are consistently clean, precise, and carefully executed, ensuring that every element is in perfect balance and uniformly crafted to the highest standard.

His specialty is doing heavy gauge Men’s jewelry, with the focus on extremely masculine men's rings,He's a "Manly-Man's" artist & is highly sought out by men because of this.

Circa 1970's by Navajo "F. Begay" {Francis?} Vintage 3 Stone Seafoam Turquoise- Masculine Sterling Ring- Size 9-1/2
$375.00

RING PROVENANCE:

This ring came through my store by the son of the original owner. He inherited his father’s pieces that the father had collected since the 1950’s.The son was telling me that nobody in the family wanted these, nor would wear them, so that’s when he considered bringing them to me. The father etched his ID # on the back of each piece I purchased (See hallmark photo 8), which was very common for that time period.. Many times an owner would put their social security # or certain numbers that would identify the owner in case if anything were to happen, they could identify it.

THE RING:

Even though man or woman could wear this, this ring does have a masculine aesthetic to it and feels very solid. This is the matching ring to the “Seafoam Turquoise” row cuff that can be found under both the women’s & men’s “Bracelet” categories.

The natural stones are all in their “free form” nugget like shape and sit high in their secure bezels.

THE HALLMARK:

The only “F. Begay” I know of is “Francis Begay”, but they are usually signed “F.L.Begay”. From having been in this business for decades now, I do know that artists change their hallmark over time, so whether this is one of Francis’s earlier made rings, I am not sure.

If you zoom in on photos 2 & 9, you will see the matching Seafoam turquoise cuff & can be found under the “Bracelet” category!

THE RING:

Using the cuts shape that then dictated the face's shape of the ring, Cooper kept close to his Navajo roots & styled this with an undeniable Navajo look that’s known to Navajo jewelry. The stone is set in a shallow shadowbox setting, where the bezel is separated from the outer sterling perimeter on the face of the ring.(see photos) The perimeter of the face, has both saw work & chiseled work that follow the shape of the bright blue Kingman turquoise cut.

The shank is unique for the fact that it is oxidized/textured on the very bottom, then overlaid with smooth high polished ½ square sterling wire on the top/bottom perimeter, which adds a tad of weight to the ring, as well as spicing up the design!

You may have noticed that the size is 15-1/2 OR a 15-3/4..The reason is, is that my mandrel doesn’t go to a size 16,so I am guessing it is somewhere between the 2. (See 9th photo where it’s on the mandrel)

Numerous Navajo Award Winner- MARIAN NEZ (Leonard Nez's Wife)- Premium Grade Egyptian (Prince) Turquoise- Top Notch Made Man's Sterling Ring Size 11-3/4
$1,800.00

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Numerous Navajo ribbon award winner Marian Nez, is from the town of Tohajiilee, New Mexico & happens to be the wife of Navajo silversmith, LEONARD NEZ, who also is very much known in the industry & it was Marian who taught Leonard, the art of making jewelry..

Little did Marian know that her fate was mapped out at becoming a silversmith, after all those years of watching her parents make jewelry, when one day she decided to solder some pieces while they went into town. That was the beginning of her new found love affair, which she'll always give thanks to them for, who then went on to teach Marian the art of making jewelry. She started in the late 70's in Albuquerque doing mass production work and designing individual pieces. But it wasn't until Gertrude Zachary Jewelry (Based in ABQ) entered some of Marian's jewelry in art shows which were then awarded first and second place ribbons.

In early 2000’s,she & her husband started our own jewelry business. But after her father passed from complication of diabetes, she decided to explore the health field to understand and educate herself about diabetes and help others. So she enrolled in Community Colleges where she became a Certified Community Health Worker, specializing in diabetes prevention with Native people. But while she was doing that, the passion for making jewelry still lingered, so she continues to only do jewelry part-time.

Whatever she creates, represent a tribute to her parents, who she is, and where she came from. Each piece that is created, comes from her humble heart and positive thoughts. Marian says "I want the person wearing my jewelry to know and feel the love that’s behind my work.”

ABOUT EGYPTIAN TURQUOISE (PRINCE TURQUOISE)

Today's Egyptian Turquoise is still mined from the original, ancient mines of the Sinai Peninsula. Egyptian reverence for turquoise is evident in historical references and modern culture continues to honor the significance and sacred nature of turquoise. Egyptian turquoise was used by healers, royal families and is featured in some of the most iconic Egyptian artifacts known to humanity. Hard stone (Which relates to 'Quality" in turquoise) with rich color variations and strong red and golden matrixes, each stone is coming from the same mines that once supplied legendary Pharaohs and Kings. Sought after around the world, Egyptian Turquoise is favored by the most serious collectors.

***************************

THE RING:

When you see this ring in hand, there are 2 major things that jump out & pull you in.. One is that you'll be able to see that this wasn't made by an 'average jeweler' or a "mediocre' artist, but rather it'll be quite obvious that it's made by someone whose been at it for decades and takes pride in their work. And 2: this has to be one of the FINEST cuts of turquoise that came out of Egypt! The lapidary is spectacular,(Stone cutting) the color is outstanding & how it sits much higher in it's bezel. It can remind you of an egg, it is perfectly & elegantly domed, while it shows it's brilliant blues & spiderwebbed matrix.

It's made in a tri-level-shallow shadow box design, where the outer perimeter is made of 1/2 round wire, the 2nd level displays precise saw work & then the high bezel sits low in a shadowbox. The face sits atop of a tapered shank that has corrugated lines right out side the face.

This will look extremely handsome on any man's finger & has enough of a top notch quality that can be passed on from generation to generation!

*** If you need this to be smaller or larger, this can be done by any professional-reputable jeweler.(This is a service that you would do) Since the bezel is smooth, rather that having a serrated bezel, makes it much easier for a jeweler who lives outside the southwest to do, in order to remove the stone(s) during the soldering process. Also another thing that is to one's advantage, is that Marian made the center of the shank smooth, without design. Meaning that if the shank had a stamped design throughout let's say, it would be harder to size, since you would lose the design during sizing. (see photo 7 on the ring mandrel) ***

Native New Mexican Artisan-DANIEL MEDINA-Top Notch 80 Carat Natural MORENCI Turquoise-Extremely Handsome/Masculine Man's Ring-Size 13-1/4
$1,295.00

THE ARTIST:
A northern New Mexico native from the Taos area, but presently residing in the Santa Fe area, Daniel has been in the jewelry business for years, but has been silversmithing for 10 of those. He is totally self taught & is inspired by all things "New Mexico/Southwestern".. What you're going to get from this artist, is a real sense of New Mexico artistry, with impeccable workmanship!

THE RING:
For the male turquoise connoisseur who loves to own nothing less than the finest turquoise available, this has to be one of the most HANDSOME & extremely masculine rings I am honored to offer!!

Selfishly stealing the spotlight is an ultra FABULOUS cut of Morenci turquoise that speaks for itself & has all the signature markings known to this particular mine.. Pyrite can be seen throughout along with black specks..The obvious quality in this is what pulls you in, as well as for it's size & character!! Professionally cut with a smooth feel & glossy spit shine finishing, is something that only these higher grades/harder cuts of natural turquoise give the lapidarian when cutting. Lower grades that are soft & chalky will not only crack & fall apart when being cut,but they will never give you this same type of glossy finishing!

The shape of the stone dictated the rings design & what I love is that Daniel kept it simple so the stone stands out.

The face sits on a tapered shank that is 7/8" wide by the face & narrows to 5/8" in the center. This shank is wide, so you want to be about a 1/2 size to 3/4 size smaller to accommodate for it's width.

I can't speak enough about this one! It's more that a 10 thumbs up here at Plata de Santa Fe Jewelry!! It's a real keeper!

Turquoise quality, cost per carat for this quality, how many carats, sterling cost & time are reflected in price**

Navajo MASTER Artisan-DELBERT GORDON-Natural Nevada Pilot Mountain Turquoise-"Arrows & Conchos" Masculine Man's 925 Ring-Size 9-1/2
$1,098.00

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Delbert's work demands a higher price than most & it's pretty obvious why. Considered a veteran "Master Navajo Artist" that has been at this now for decades & is the artist that has taught & helped pave the careers for many of today's traditional Navajo Gallup jewelers that you find on the market..Delbert is the 'go-to" guy & the one they look up to when they need technique/inspiration.

Delbert's work is beyond extraordinary & stays true to his Navajo roots by staying undeniably, traditional. He is 'old school' for the fact that each & everything that goes into his intricate metal work is completely hand fabricated. He believes that good stamping is what helps to make a great piece & he takes inspiration from stamp patterned designs from the old masters of the past.

Jewelers that started back in the era he had,it was important to use only natural, premium stones for their jewelry & with so many mines now closed down,it's hard for someone who came out of that era to settle for anything less, especially when you have your name on it!

Delbert 1st hand picks his stones & then lets the stone dictate the design..He never knows what he is going to make until the stone starts to 'speak' to him & then builds around it with the heaviest gauge sterling & incorporating the most incredible ornate, embellished applique work.

*******************
A NOTE:

These are BIG sized rings for BIG sized men!!! These are just 2 of the 12 rings that Cooper made for me & are the largest I have. All of them come in large, hard to find XL sizes & XXL sizes! And It's for these "hard to find" large sizes, is the reason why I couldn't have asked any better artist that specializes in masculine men's rings than Cooper, to make them! Men with large fingers know how hard it is to find a ring a great turquoise ring that fits, with many time's being forced to get one custom made! So whether you're a Football player, truck driver, construction worker or a man who just has a large finger & would love to wear a dynamite turquoise ring with a true masculine edginess, I now have them in stock!

*******************

THE RINGS:

Both of these are similar in design, with the difference being that one has a beautifully beveled oval cut of green Kingman, while the other has a huge chunky cut of blue Kingman.. Another difference in the 2 rings is in the shank, where the green has the diamond shaped accents on the shanks underside, (see photo) while the blue has wire.(Photo 13)

These are 'off the charts' HUGE regarding in ring size! If you zoom in on photos 15 & 16 you'll see how my ring mandrel only goes to a 15.When I put both rings on it & they slip right off!! There is a 5/8" difference from one size to the next on my mandrel & if I go 5/8" from the size 15 mark,(Which would be a size 16) the ring keeps sliding all the way past that, slipping right off! So my guess is these are at least a 16-1/2,but could be a 16-3/4 or possibly a 17! So I'm sorry that I can't give an exact size like I would like, but would be safe at saying they're at least a 16-1/2.

If you zoom in on photo 14, I measured the ""inside"" of the shank from one end to the other end. So to see if these may fit, what you would do is take a ring that fits you well & then take a paper measure & then starting at the 1" mark, see where the tape measures to on the other end.. You want to measure the part of the ring that sits AGAINST your finger,NOT the outside part, like when were wearing it. The reason is, any design on the top would give you an inaccurate reading. If you need my help, please don't hesitate contacting me! I'd be more than willing to help guide you.

** If you zoom in on the last photo, you’ll find a photo of all the rings & their sizes that are in my listings or will be in my listings! **

(or greater!!!)

*******************

THE RING:

The # 8 mine closed down a number of years ago & is no longer active, except for what's being mined for gold. This stone was actually mined back decades ago & has been apart of Cooper's father's collection.. # 8 offered such a wide range of blues, as well as matrix patterns that ranged from spiderwebbing to very fine lines.

This large sized oval cut has what would be considered a "Baby Blue" color or what I would call a "Pastel Blue" The smooth beveled stone was cut by Lonnie & is bezel set & sit's in a high shadowbox setting.(As opposed to a typically low set shadowbox setting) Using a thick gauge triangular wire for it's border, Cooper then chiseled the east/west-north/south areas of the sterling.

The face of the ring sits on a masculine tapered shank that is precisely designed. This hearty shank is designed with a 'dual finished'-dual textured" sterling where the base is oxidized & has texture, while the higher polished wire has a smooth finishing & has more of a contemporary/mirrored polish finished sterling. Because of this, the 2 are accentuated. (See photos 4,5,6,8) Also I want to mention that by using thick gauge wire for the shanks perimeter, gives the shank about a 2.6 mm thickness, (About 1/10th") so it's very durable!

*****************************

THE RING:
This is one of 12 rings that Cooper made for me that all come in large, to hard to find XL & XXL sizes! (See last photo)

Having come from Lonnie's stash of old stones, Cooper chose for this ring a rounded square cut of natural Pilot Mountain turquoise that has some of the most incredible character! This cut has it's own 'fingerprint' character, where no 2 are alike & has colors of both blue & green, with fine matrix lines of golden & dark browns intermixed throughout.

This very masculine mans ring is made in a traditional Navajo style, where Cooper framed the large cut of turquoise with a scalloped border of heavy gauge triangular wire & traditional saw work that surrounds the light shadowbox setting.

The face of the ring sits on a tapered shank that is incredibly designed! The actual underlying base of the shank is completely textured & has been darkened with oxidation & then soldered atop of this darkened base are 2 heavy gauge wires that sit along the perimeter. Because of the oxidation, allows for the design to become much more accentuated & leaves it more pronounced..(See photos 4 & 5) Also I want to mention that by using this wire for the perimeter design, gives the shank about a 2.7 mm thickness, so it's very durable!

DESCRIPTION:

Now this is a killer man's ring that will get some attention for it's WIDE size & traditional Navajo gorgeous aesthetics! It says" Masculine" in every sense of the word & leave it to an artist like Delbert who knows how to bring the "Wow's" to any man's hand!

Using a fabulous larger cut of natural Pilot Mountain turquoise, where the size dictated the wide sterling setting. On the sides Delbert chose to use a arrow stamp on the applique. I must mention, the arrows are not just there only for looks, but rather are there to "protect' the wearer.. The cut sits in a serrated bezel & everything is then placed atop of a well tooled tapered shank.

**I do want to say that if you want to consider sizing this, just be sure that the jeweler knows how to work with these serrated bezels. When you get out of the southwest, many jewelers don't know how to work with these types of bezels & by removing the stone in order to solder, the teeth of the bezel could get damaged. I suggest you show the jeweler a picture of the ring before you consider buying it.**

ABOUT THE TURQUOISE:

Sinai was called Mafkat ("Country of Turquoise) by the ancient Egyptians.. From the time of the first dynasty or before, the Egyptians mined turquoise in Sinai at two locations where the mines were worked intermittently and on a seasonal basis for thousands of years. This turquoise comes from this area. Its known for these incredible blues that have a really warm & very rich colored red/brown matrix.

********************

THE RING:

Made in a traditional Navajo style wth a whole lot of 'manly-man' masculine charm,Freddy hand picked a gorgeous cut of Egyptian turquoise that then dictated the work he did to surround it.Framing the large oval cut, is twisted wire, while the tasteful saw work that is done on the perimeter is actually apart of the heavy gauge sheet sterling that the stone & wire lay atop of.

The shank is tapered & if you zoom in on photos 3 & 6 you'll find Eagles that sit on the sides that he hand made & which give this a real Western/USA edginess & really adds to the overall look of the ring!

This is a very attractive ring that will definitely look great on any man's hand who wears it!

Beginning as far back to the 1800's,Herbert is a 9th generation metalsmith.. But it was his father that told him "If you make jewelry,,you will always have enough money to survive" & that's exactly what he did! At the young age of only 10,he started by helping his mother & father with pieces they were making & between their influence & trial & error, Herbert has now grown to be one of the Navajo's most respected artists.

Now having over a 1/2 century of artistry under his belt,he is widely known for his beetle, spider, dragonfly pins (See last photo) & when I asked him "When did you come up with this style"? "It came to me in a dream" he told me & has has been guided & has followed that dream ever since! Creativity flows through Herbert's veins & will not create until the time is right, his mind & soul are aligned & all his creative juices are flowing! I am honored to call him a friend & to carry his wonderfully created wearable art jewelry.

PHILANDER BEGAY KOSHARE KACHINA HIGH Grade Plus Royston Turquoise 14k/925 Mans Ring SZ. 11-1/2-ish
$1,495.00
USE THE DROP DOWN & READ ABOUT PHILANDER IN "ABOUT THE ARTIST"

When Philander told me he had made me a ring with the best quality there is from the Royston mine,I had no idea it was this good!! Upon receiving this,I literally could not take my eyes off of it! And anyone with a trained OR un-trained eye, will be able to see the quality this has that separates itself from a lot of the turquoise you tend to find out there..With this grade,it deserves to have 14k gold wrapped around it & the gold helps to enhance the golden brown matrix & gives it the look it deserves!

Displayed on both sides are called "Koshare Katchina Clowns"who are Sacred Clowns & are one of 5, who serve as jesters. They are known for their black & white horizontal striped bodies, their hair separated into 2 ponytails that stand upright & have tips made of corn husk.Only with these, the corn husks have 14K gold tips.If you zoom in on the photos, you will witness the realistic depiction, where they show the 'wrinkle' in the ponytail bend.He also took it up another notch & even gave them a red coral tongue & since they are smiling Koshare's with a big smile on their face, they have exaggerated cheeks..You literally have to be a artist to make something like this & Philander validates, he definitely is that!

This is a "One-of-a-Kind" ring that is made in a 'one-time use' tufa cast of sterling. Tufa gives the metal texture & the finish has a all over light oxidized finish & darker near the stone.

The ring graduates from a wider shank to smaller underside & the large stone takes up most of the width on the front.

I deal in & see a lot of jewelry & have been in this business for more years that I even want to admit & I have to say, this is probably one of the better Man's rings I have seen!

It ooozes superior class,it has a obvious high quality & sophistication & is a ring to cherish & wear in pride..You will be able to pass this down from generation to generation.

**Wholesale, the turquoise alone, was in the 3 figure cost, that is how good it is!**

Would make a excellent gift for the man who loves "Fine & Highly Sophisticated" Navajo jewelry..

**The stone is a deeper, rich color green. It is much more vibrant in color than in my photos!**

A LITTLE ABOUT PHILANDER

In such a relatively short period of time,Gallup Navajo artist Philander Begay's reputation has sky rocketed for being not only a 'Master' Tufa Cast artist, but one of the finest artists out there in today's industry. He has surpassed so many of the 'bigger' names in the industry & when it comes to awards, the Heard museum knew this artist was unique & very special at what he makes,so much that he had earned at least 3~"1st place" awards with them, with one being the highest award an artist could ever get & that was when he took home 1st place in the category of "Best in Class in Jewelry" for his amazing concho belt.

Philander is known for not only his precise, very high end tufa cast jewelry, but is known for giving us depictions of Navajo ceremonial event's that are so beautifully displayed in all the jewelry he creates. You will not only get these very pictorial pieces, (that are almost like story tellers) but the finest Navajo jewelry on the market.

ABOUT DELBERT:
Delbert's work demands a higher price than most & it's pretty obvious why.Considered a veteran "Master Navajo Artist" that has been at this now for decades & is the artist that has taught & helped pave the careers for many of today's traditional Navajo Gallup jewelers that you find on the market..Delbert is the 'go-to" guy & the one other silversmith's look up to when they need technique/inspiration.

Delbert's work is beyond extraordinary & stays true to his Navajo roots by staying undeniably, traditional. He is 'old school'for the fact that each & everything that goes into his intricate metal work is completely hand fabricated.

Jewelers that started back in the era he had,it was important to use only natural, premium stones for their jewelry & with so many mines now closed down,it's hard for someone who came out of that era to settle for anything less, especially when you have your name on it!
Delbert 1st hand picks his stones & then lets the stone dictate the design..He never knows what he is going to make until the stone starts to 'speak' to him & then builds around it with the heavy gauge sterling & incorporating the most incredible ornate, embellished work.

The deep green stone sits in it's own serrated bezel & sits on a wide shank on the top & has a narrow taper on the underside.Circular twisted wire & a round concho act as an embellishment & gives design to the ring..Stamped design sits below the embellishing.

It has a good weight & feels nice & solid, just like men like!

Navajo / Hopi Artisan - "Curtis Pete" - PREMIUM GEM GRADE- Mediterranean Red Coral 925 Ring-Size 10-1/2-Crème de la Crème!
$990.00

THE ARTIST:

Raised on the Rez in Arizona & coming from both Navajo & Hopi ancestry, award winner Curtis Pete found his calling back at the young age of 27 after being influenced & learning from his uncle Robert Yellowhorse. ( I believe he's in his late 50's if not in his 60's now?)

Staying traditional when it came to the styles he started out creating, his techniques blossomed to where he ended up working not only in sterling, but gold as well. Earning awards at the "Gallup Ceremonial" show, where he won a blue ribbon award for his buckle & then the 2nd time entering,he took home 1st place for a necklace he tastefully created. That same year he took his art to Aspen,Co. where again, took home another 1st place award for a necklace/pendant set.

Curtis is what I consider a "TRUE" artist, where he has a style all his own & because of his own unique creative individuality, he doesn't have to follow what others are doing, which personally I believe, you can't be a good designer & have your own identity if you're copying what others are doing!!

Literally EVERYTHING he makes will always have a 'upscale quality' look ,whether it's his traditional looking pieces OR his traditional pieces that are made with a contemporary aesthetic..(which the latter, are simply STUNNING!) Curtis's jewelry takes "Time" & can't be whipped out in a matter of an hour or 2.Everythingwill be made by hand & made extremely well!

Whether you're one whose just started collecting Southwestern jewelry or have been collecting for years, one thing that will stand out is for the fact that you'll always be able to tell just by looking at the piece, that someone whose been at it a long time & takes pride in their work, made it. Curtis chooses to work with only the finest gem quality' stones & is highly collectible.
************************************
UNISEX!
THE RING:

Made for either man or woman, this is one of Curtis's more traditional Navajo pieces. Compared to some SW pieces that can be more ornate in design, this ring has a more understated simplistic, but upscale look.

Placed atop of a heavy gauge 2 mm thick rectangular faceplate where he hand picked the most GORGEOUS color of Mediterranean coral that has primo quality & is a sight for the eyes! The oval cut has a mirror finishing that only to validates that this particular cut has a superior quality. The coral sits low in Curtis's hand made castellated bezel, one of the trademarks of Curtis's work.

Looking like "Sun Ray's", the faceplate has been hand chiseled, with oxidation in all the crevices that only enhances the metal's beauty & emphasizes the design..
************************************
THE SHANK:
Made of one solid strip of sterling, the shank is 'a piece of art' in itself! Thinner on the very center 's underside that then gradually gets wider & then turns into a 4 split shank to accommodate the width of the face.

The weight is nice & hefty & for you men that may consider this,it has a good weight that feels masculine!
***********************************
***FYI***:
Anyone in this business knows how much the price of Coral has climbed to & has gotten so ridiculously expensive, which makes it unaffordable for many artists to even consider buying. Coral is now on the "Rare" list & no longer can it be fished, nor brought in the USA. (These reasons are reflected in the price) Everyday the price goes up & like real estate, it will never be the price tomorrow, as it is today.

Federico Jimenez- METICULOUSLY Hand Mosaic Flush Inlaid Zuni Inspired - "Rainbow Man" Solid Sterling Money Clip - 2.25" Long - Exquisite Lapidary Art!
$598.00

Federico’s love for traditional Zuni mosaic inlay work has been witnessed down through the years, in his own work, where he pays homage to these wonderful Puebloan artists & the work that’s associated with them.

Artfully placed atop of heavy gauge sterling sheet is the Zuni Rainbow Man who is known In Zuni culture to be a sacred guardian spirit associated with life giving summer rains, and the rainbow that appears after rain. He is a symbol of protection, abundance, and the vital role of water for the Zuni people. The rainbow itself symbolizes the blessings of rain and the promise of life after a storm, reinforcing the Rainbow Man's connection to renewal and hope. The Rainbow Man is also a powerful protector, often depicted on Zuni war shields, signifying his role as a guardian against harm.He is a well known figure among the Zuni.

Taking from a larger slab of Sleeping Beauty turquoise, black onyx, Spiny Oyster & white shell, each were then cut & shaped with impeccable skilled hands, where each then lay in a raised flush setting that sits inside a secure bezel. The work is tedious when done on this small of scale, but as you can see, it is done precisely & very accurately.
