THE PIN/PENDANT:
Looking like having a face of turquoise and wearing a crown of Abalone, this versatile piece can be worn as either a pin OR a pendant! Abalone is one of those shells that is so unique for not only it's light diffraction qualities, but because of all the colors of the rainbow that are naturally in it, which makes it the perfect choice to pair with any gemstone,(Peridot, Topaz, Amethyst, Citrine, Tourmaline, etc.) as well as any wardrobe color, since you can pull from any one of it's colors!.
The design was dictated by the large oval Kingman turquoise 'face' and everything else was built around it. The "Crown" is made with linear cuts of abalone that shot up high and is finished off with round cuts of the shell. On the sides are tear drop cuts of teal blue Tibetan turquoise and at the very bottom is a heart of abalone.
If you zoom in on the 10th and 11th photo ,you'll see that this can be worn as a pin OR a pendant. It has a shepherds hook connection and if you wear this as a necklace, you can take some needle nose pliers & open it up to the size you need to accommodate the diameter of the necklace..If you do use it as a necklace, remember sterling is soft, so you want to open the hook with ease, without using force! I suggest you do a little at a time, then do more if you need. If you wear it as a pin, the only thing I would not pin it on, is any delicate/thin like fabrics.(Like silk) If you asked for my professional opinion and were curious as to what length necklace to put it on,I would say that this size would look best when worn with a 20" or a 22" necklace. Anything longer it could get lost.
