MEET THE ARTIST:
You might say that Mary Ellen Pease is the respected matriarch of the renowned "WILLIE" family and also happens to be the mother of some of the most reputable Navajo silversmiths in the industry, each of whom has made a significant name for themselves in the jewelry industry. Among her children are talented artists such as Ronnie, Lonnie, Rudy, Juan, and Melissa Willie. Additionally, some of her grandchildren, including Tawney, Cooper, Dakota, and Shamenika Willie, continue the family legacy with their own remarkable work. (All of these talented individuals can be found in my listings.)
It was Lonnie, however, who took on the crucial role of teaching every member of his family all that they know, including his own mother, Mary Ellen Pease. From there, the family refined their skills through continuous trial and error, learning and evolving together. You might say that Lonnie is the true "Maestro" of the family, and what an incredible blessing it is for the family to have someone so highly skilled guiding and mentoring them along the way!
ITHACA PEAK TURQUOISE:
One of the most iconic, highly collectible, and truly stunning varieties of Turquoise originates from the Ithaca Peak claim, located within the Mineral Park mining district just outside Kingman, Arizona, USA.
This extraordinary variety of Turquoise ranges in color from a soft, true baby blue to a deep, rich, vibrant blue, often accompanied by striking black matrix, quartz matrix, and distinctive pyrite inclusions. The warm-colored pyrite inclusions provide a beautiful, shimmering contrast that really makes this turquoise stand out, making it relatively easy to identify for collectors and aficionados alike. Much of the material extracted from the Ithaca Peak mine is consistently high grade, contributing to its desirability and exclusivity. Ithaca Peak Turquoise is a rare turquoise that is highly sought after.
