RING PROVENANCE:

This ring came through my store by the son of the original owner. He inherited his fathers and some of his mothers pieces that they had collected since the 1950’s.The son was telling me that nobody in the family wanted these, nor would wear them, so that’s when he considered bringing them to me. Except for this ring and another,(yet to be posted) the father etched his ID # on the back of each piece that I purchased, which was very common for that time period.. Many times an owner would put their social security # or certain numbers that would identify the owner in case if anything were to happen, they could identify it.(See Bolo Tie, Bracelet, Belt buckle listings to see some of the rest.)

THE RING:

This classically designed 1970’s Navajo made ‘leaf’ ring is made with Italian red Coral & a beautiful cut of Morenci Turquoise, which has maintained it’s striking blue color even after all these years. The lack of this color change, tells a professional in the business that this is a ‘harder’ cut, which equates with ‘quality’..

The leaf work, along with this ultra favorite southwestern combo of materials, grew in popularity during this time period & is still holding strong in todays jewelry.

This has no hallmark, which was somewhat still common during this decade. I do want to mention though, that I still come across un-hallmarked items to this day, since there are still some artists that don’t own a hallmark stamp.
