LITTLE ABOUT THE HISTORY OF LARIMAR:

Larimar or blue pectolite,is an extremely rare gemstone.Having been found in one location & that is a mountainous & relatively inaccessible area in the province of Barahona in the Dominican Republic.The 1st mention of the stone,came in 1916,however wasn't till 1974 that the stone really made it's appearance.

In '74,Norman Rilling, a member of the US Peace Corps & Miguel Mendez,a Dominican found pieces of Larimar on the seashore.The word"LARIMAR" was created by Mendez,who combined his daughters name "Larissa" with the Spanish word for sea"Mar".Early theories suggested Larimar was produced by the sea & later by the earth's volcanic movements.It is considered to be the "Caribbeans Gem", because of its blue colors that are considered to embody the beautiful blue colors of the ocean & skies..It is now considered super rare & highly valuable!

More & more Native American artists are stepping out of the box & using stones that are un-traditional to what we would think of as "Native American Jewelry"..Anyone who sees this, would never think that it's Navajo made,but yes it is! It is made by Navajo artist "Burt Francisco" whose a man in his 50's & has been doing jewelry now for 25+ years!

These have such a sweet look about them & are very feminine in style.They are designed with the beauty of a hearty pink-ish colored pearl & then carefully paired with 2 different cuts of milky bluesy Larimar.. The overall look has a 'softer' aesthetic based on these colors.

These are the same in design,but the only difference is on pendant 1, the cuts of Larimar are smaller, whereas pendant 2 is a tad larger which gives it a little more width at the bottom.(See photos)

Hang this with a contemporary chain that should be no bigger than a 4 mm because of the bale size.
