THE ARTIST:

Al was born in Zuni Pueblo in 1959 and carries both Zuni and Navajo heritage. He learned the art of classic Navajo silversmithing from his parents and has matured into one of the most respected and collectible artists working in traditional Navajo styles. His experience as a sand painter and as a visual artist, gives Al the eye he has for design, enabling him to create jewelry that is both visually and aesthetically harmonious, with a perfect balance between metal and stone.

Jake's work demands a higher price than most, and it's pretty obvious why. Al has paid his dues since he’s been at it now for decades — so whether it's his more-than-perfectly made cuffs, his rings, or his pendants, he always ensures that each piece shows the most impeccable workmanship. He pays close attention to every detail to see they are done right, no matter how long it takes to make them or whether the piece will sell for $50 or $5,000. He pours that same amount of care and love into every item, regardless of time or the price.
