SQUASH BLOSSOM PROVENANCE:

This necklace came through my store by a well known Santa Fe’an resident/collector and whose family has been here since the late 1600’s-1700’s and actually has a street named after them here in Santa Fe! (No names mentioned) This belonged to the mother for decades & was kept in a security box inside a bank, until they decided to sell off some of their pieces, since no one wanted to own or wear them. That’s when I was recommended.

THE NECKLACE:

Having a heavy darkened natural patina, this has a serious vintage Navajo vibe that you’ll notice the minute you lay your eyes on it! It’s designed in a 2 strand that is made with 8 mm range in size hand made beads. Extending outwards from the beads are 10 “Blossom’s “ per side (20 total).The “Fleur de Lis” sand cast Naja is actually removeable & can be worn with or without..(I personally would keep it on, since this is what you want to see with a squash blossom necklace! Plus, they go hand in hand)

The great thing about wearing something that’s all sterling, is for the fact that you can pair them with other all sterling pieces OR ones made with colored stones. This alone, gives this squash a bit more versatility since you can pair it with more jewelry pieces.

This is a classic, timeless highly collectible piece of Native jewelry — a historical statement that never grows boring and remains a signature Southwestern classic, beloved and relevant, no matter how many years pass!
