A PERSONAL NOTE:

When it comes to jewelry,it's not always about the look that the piece has,but how well the piece is made.Workmanship is equally important.You'll see things throughout that tell you how long the artist has been at it,to how skilled their 'eye' is for design,to the form & balance in the design,to the metal work that includes how well the stones are set in their bezels..You will also see the thought,time & love that went into it, where the goal was to make it perfect...

This necklace has all that & then some! It's an impeccably designed piece & am in awh over everything about it ! I am especially impressed with the precise bezel work,(which is a art in itself to do right) & how well the pearls & amethyst match up so well in size & color! It has everything I look for in a quality made piece & is literally flawlessly made & exceeds my expectations in both design & workmanship..

Federico himself designed this exquisite necklace,where he hand picked & laid out both the pearls & amethyst that were chose for their even size,their luster,the uniform saturated depth of coloring in the amethyst,etc.,which contributes to it's precise & uniform design.

THE DESIGN:

It is laid out in a 24 panel cluster design of rare-naturally formed-conjoined twin pearls, which are unique for the fact that they start forming as two separate pearls and then they fuse together.With twin pearls the two nucleus fuse together and form a double pearl.They actually look a little like a snowman!

Laid on the same sheet of sterling are oval cuts of amethyst that act as the outline & each panel is then connected by jump rings to the next panel.Anchored from the neckline is a large 4" cross that is designed with a 'cross within a cross'.Chosen for this,are fresh water natural pearls that have both a free form shape & a rectangular shape,which the latter,I think was a good choice for the cross, based on their hearty,wide & longer shape.Round & oval cuts of amethyst frame the perimeter.The finishing has a slightly oxidized look,that has neither a mirror polished finish,nor a heavily oxidized one.

THE CLOSURE:

Laid in a floral cluster of natural free form shape pearls & a huge high domed cut of amethyst,this type of closure is unique to Federico,who makes the closure apart of the design.If you look at photo 11,you will see how the pearl is apart of the closure.What you do is push down on it (Not pull) to open & when closed,it's apart of the design,so it's hidden.
