A PERSONAL WORD:

I have to admit, I am a HUGE fan of Federico’s Baroque Pearl jewelry and have had (or do have) some of the best pearl pieces he has ever designed — and while I truly adore each and every single design, there are certain ones I love even more than others. Some of them literally leave me in a crazy state of mind because they are so outrageously over the top STUNNING! And just when I thought I’ve seen the absolute best, another masterpiece appears and steals my breath all over again. THIS particular necklace is definitely one of those breathtaking treasures that even I, wished I could keep for myself!!

THE NECKLACE:

Bringing southwestern ‘elegance’ to a whole new level of disbelief, this heavily clustered baroque pearl and turquoise necklace is thoughtfully made in a 7-panel design. It features 3 large, round cluster panels—each roughly in the 2" x 2" range (give or take)—alternating with 4 slimmer panels that echo the classic ‘butterfly’ motif seen in concho belts. The round panels are filled with smaller baroque pearls, while the skinnier butterfly-style panels showcase bold, chunky, oversized pearls. To complete the composition, small round pearls are precisely set between the turquoise and baroques, adding refined contrast and cohesive balance.

Now, veering away from the pearls for a minute, what truly elevates this necklace is the turquoise that was so carefully selected for it. These stones are a curated “sampler” from various Nevada mines and were once part of the renowned turquoise vendor Larry Cooley’s extraordinary turquoise collection. Many of Larry’s rocks/cuts were mined decades ago, before treatments & stabilizing turquoise became common, since Larry’s cuts were “Harder”, meaning they didn’t need stabilization in order for the lapidarian to cut & shape them. (FYI: “The harder the turquoise, the higher the quality”) So these are natural, high‑grade cuts — a factor that significantly increases the necklace’s value. For instance, the central pendant panel alone features a stunning cut of Blue Gem turquoise, a color and quality that is rarely available today. Now for the shape of the pearls in the finale! If you zoom in on photos 18,19,20, you will see some incredibly shaped pearls!!! Made with 3 pearls per side, (6 total) each one of these were carefully hand picked for their ¼ moon shape!!! They are so unique & really add some WOW to the necklace. Personally, they really complete the total package!!

All the material is set atop of a contemporary finished sterling & even though made with turquoise, this can be worn anywhere within our 50 states without it feeling “Too” southwestern! Perfect, but not limited to: Any high end Black Tie event, Weddings, Brides, Cruises, candlelight dinners, the holidays, etc.!!

This was made when the price of sterling had jumped to an all time high.. The rising cost is directly reflected in what artists paid per gram or ounce for the metal.(Not to exclude the higher cost of materials!) So if you’re wondering about the higher prices across the internet & in every gallery, this is the reason!

Factored also into the price for this, is Federico’s name and his decades old reputation, the quality & the limited supply & availability of the turquoise, the number of carats and the cost per carat for this higher quality. Also included is the need to compensate the artisan (And staff) for the time and expertise required to create the necklace These are just some of the elements that together explain and contribute to the higher final price of this necklace.
