Federico Jimenez-William Spratling Inspired-Crushed Chip Inlay Azurite Crescent Shape Contemporary Modernist Earrings
FIRM ON SALE PRICE
Federico pays homage to one of the greatest artisans who was widely regarded as the “Father” of the Mexican Silver Renaissance movement: William Spratling, who was the leader responsible for putting Mexican silver jewelry on the map. Federico has been involved & is a collector himself, so he has a intense deep appreciation for Taxco/Mexico City Jewelry & especially with the focus on the 1930’s-50’s period. Like many artisans today, many try to keep these designs that were original to the Taxco masters alive & personally speaking, I appreciate that Federico is one of them..
So with that said, these earrings were inspired from a 1940’s William Spratling design & do remind me a bit of Chato Castillo’s “Mosaica Azteca” crushed inlay designs. They have somewhat of a architectural vibe to them & by looking at the design closely, I would not think that these can easily be made.
Very ‘modernist’ & contemporary in style, these are made in a somewhat dainty 1.50” round design that has a mirrored finished repousse center & an outline with crushed chips of Azurite. They hang from a sterling ear wire. Unlike many of Federico’s earrings that can be weighty, these are very comfortable on the ears! (See weights below)
A WORD: Even though Federico is known as a southwestern artisan, these have a very contemporary & very modern Taxco look, so they can be worn no matter where you live, without feeling like you have to pair them with your other southwestern jewelry. These will actually pair well with modernist type Taxco jewelry if you have them or any of your contemporary pieces.
PLEASE NOTE WHAT PRICING IS BASED ON :
Not only has Federico’s prices increased, but the cost of what artists are now having to pay per gram, per ounce for sterling, since that & gold have gone up in price. Also factored into the price for these, is Federico’s reputable & decades long standing name in the industry, his reputation and years in the business. Also included is the need to compensate the artisan (And or staff) for their time and expertise required to create these for Federico.

PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING:
*****I do not consider myself a 'professional photographer" but I do try my best to give you photos that are 'realistic" in color. So please go through all photos to see ANY variation. But also please realize that all screen monitors are different, so the materials can look brighter (or duller) from one computer to the next.
In order to give you close up photos so I can provide you with all the intricate detail, the close ups can tend to make the item look gigantic & everything is more magnified than in actuality. So to get an accurate idea of how big these are, please either check them out being worn on the ear to get a rough idea (photos) or you can pull out a tape measure & compare to my given measurements
