This incredibly made Navajo cuff came through my store & there were some things about it that seriously impressed me. One was not only the weight & feel it has, but knowing all the incredible steps this artist took to make it! The obvious time AND love are clearly there & there was no skimping at bringing this to it's "masterpiece' level!
Made with an undeniable Navajo aesthetic,the artist picked 3 chunky sized cuts of Royston turquoise that all look like they came from the same area of the mine, with all having a softer green color & each having golden brown colored matrix. If you zoom in on the photos,you'll see the incredibly designed hand made bezels that each sit in! These aren't 'store bought-already made' bezels,but rather being all hand made & ones that the artist took time to make! Not all artists take time to do these anymore, since most are buying them already made to save time, which takes away the beauty of the piece being totally hand made!
The stones sit on a fully hand tooled heavy gauge sterling shank (Possibly a 2-4 gauge?) that is strong & durable & is literally non-bendable! To stamp with such accuracy through this heavy of a gauge sterling takes skill & a good eye, which shows the level of artistry this artist is at.
It's made for a larger-wider wrist,but for a wrist that's not so 'fleshy' since it has a 1.25" gap. CONDITION: Shank is still in original shape & has been well kept. There is a VERY fine hairline crack in one of the side stones but is not loose,shaky & does not affect it's wear.The line is very fine & I actually didn't see this till after photographing it! (See photo 7)
