Circa 1970's- Vintage Native American - Picturesque / Outstanding Character-"Dendritic Agate"-Sterling Cuff-For SMALL 5-7/8" Wrist
THE CUFF:
This piece arrived at my store from a local Santa Fe collector who was downsizing. As someone who has always been a big fan of virtually every type of agate, I couldn’t pass up this cuff.! The character of the cut is simply mesmerizing — like gazing at one of our earth’s own paintings.
From looking at it with a designer’s eye, I personally feel it was a wise decision for the artist to keep the metalwork understated, allowing the Dendritic Agate to be showcased and highlighted exactly as it should be. After all, the stone is the true star of the show, and the minimalist setting lets its natural patterns and subtle beauty take center stage.
The agate rests on a platform of sterling silver, with half-moon wire cuts and small beads forming a halo that draws the eye to the stone. Set horizontally to cover more of the shank, the agate is flanked by finely worked leaf motifs on both sides. All elements are soldered to two separate round wires that converge at the terminals, giving added strength and stability to that area.
While the construction details suggest a particular time period as to when this was made, the overall aesthetic still carries a distinctly “Fred Harvey–ish” character.
SIZING:
This is made for a XS to Small sized 5-7/8" wrist ,(just 1/8” shy of being a 6” wrist). It has a 1-1/8" gap opening, which is meant for a little more skinnier wrist... If this doesn’t quite measure to be the perfect size to fit your wrist, I would recommend taking it to a reputable jeweler who knows how to adjust cuffs to either open the gap up more or close it down some. . Just remember that the only thing that can be changed when adjusting is the gap and does not change the “Interior” 4.75” measurement. It's of extreme importance that you know your wrist size and what gap opening works best for it to comfortably fit over the arm before purchasing.
Cuff's are one of the only bracelets that HAVE to fit properly, so If you're unsure, click on this link: How To Fit A Cuff. And while there, be sure to copy/paste the You Tube link, which shows you the “Proper” way to put a cuff on! I am an email away, so don't hesitate in getting in touch with me if you need!.
