ABOUT THE ARTIST:

In comparison to some veteran Navajo metalsmiths, Geneva is a relatively young silversmith who learned the art of metalsmithing from her mother, Genevieve Apachito.

Geneva is not only a traditional Navajo artist that can make just about anything you place before her, but she is also known for her distinctive sterling beaded jewelry, where she carefully hand-melts sterling into individual beads and then meticulously places them onto sheet sterling until the surface is completely covered in beads. (See listings by putting the name “Geneva” in the search bar when you’re on the front page of the website) She’s a proud New Mexico native, who was born in Socorro, NM and now proudly calls the nearby town of Alamo, NM her home.

THE RING:

Made with untreated natural Kingman turquoise, Geneva created a piece of art when making this ring, by hand picking various size, various shaped cuts that seem to give this an almost ‘abstract’ feel!

Not only does the face of the ring steal the show, but the shank also deserves its own moment in the spotlight, adding balance and all that wonderful Navajo character to the design! The shank has a wide 6 split design and then taking up about 1/3rd of the center is a scalloped perimeter with traditional stamp work. (See photos 8,9,10,11)

PLEASE READ: Even though you may wear a size 9 ring, I want to mention that these wide shanks fit tighter, so because of this, your finger should actually be about a size 8-3/4.
