Circa 1940's- 50's- Beautifully Designed- Large Navajo Made BUTTERFLY with Premium Turquoise- Stamped Sterling Pin

$790.00

Coming from a well known Santa Fe Native American arts collector who only collected some of the finest made, this was apart of the collection that I was lucky enough to get my hands on!

Navajo made, this beautifully designed large Butterfly is a piece of historical art that is finely designed by obvious skilled hands. You have to figure that back when this was made, they didn't have the tools we have today, which makes vintage pieces stand that much more appreciation.

Just like the real life markings of the butterfly, this artist emulated the butterfly's markings beautifully through stampwork. It has little stamped circles like the circular patterns you'll find on the real butterfly, the abdoman is raised with horizontal lines running across it,it has realistic eyes, perfectly curved wings & a premuium oval cut of turquoise that depicts it's thorax.. For it's age, this cut of turquoise has not changed in color like you'll find with some vintage turquoise pieces that change in time from blue to green, which tells me it's a "harder" stone & the harder the turquoise, the higher the quality & none, if any, color change.

This butterfly can go along with you where ever you go,since it can be worn on so much! You can pin it to a hat,a shawl,a purse, any outer jacket or blazer, shirt or blouse! I would be careful however, pinning it to any delicate type fabrics.

A NOTE: You see so many butterfly's in Native American culture since they represent a symbol of change & joy..They are considered a miracle of transformation and resurrection. The butterfly is also believed to be a messenger from the spirit world.
