THE INTERCHANGLE/REMOVEABLE BALE CONVERTERS:

Made exclusively for Plata de Santa Fe Jewelry by my Navajo artisan friend ‘TYLER BROWN’.. These tapered bales are fabulously made of a heavier gauge sterling & if you zoom in on the photos, you’ll notice Tyler’s perfect “Repousse” work that is done throughout the bale.

Bale converters are a “must-have” when you have a pendant with a shepherd’s hook connection that won’t attach to your Navajo Pearl necklace or any other beaded necklace. These are the answer for a few reasons.. Maybe the beads of your necklace are too large for the shepherd’s hook to go over or maybe the beads are strung so tightly together that they don’t spread wide enough so the hook can sit on the necklace’s stringing material or possibly, you may have a “multi strand” necklace that the shepherds hook won’t fit over the entirety of the strands & if you put it over a strand or 2, the weight of the pendant can weaken the stringing material. (please zoom in on all the provided photos, since they play a major role to the description! )

So depending on the width of your pendants shepherds hook is 1st of all, choose the right size loop connector at the bottom of the bale and then hook the shepherds hook into the loop & now you can wear your necklace! ( See last 4 photos) Plus the stress is taken off of the necklace and now is placed on the bale.

For those of you who may have a Federico pendant, you’ll notice he does either a 3/8” or a wider 5/8” width shepherds hook, so any of these would work, but it also depends on what diameter necklace you’re putting one of Federico’s pendants on. These work especially well because of his wider shepherd hooks, which are harder to put on some strands of necklaces.

** I do have a different style of bale converters that were made for us by Navajo Artist “Freddy” that you can find it this same category. Freddy made his with a different type connector than Tyler’s that connects to the shepherds hook & are made with a lighter gauge sterling & are not ‘tapered’ like Tyler’s. (And less expensive as Tyler’s) Tyler is working on more bales, so as soon as I get them & then photograph them, they’ll be up online!!

****The Artist, the artists reputation in the industry, plus for the rising cost of sterling which has literally at least doubled from what it was a year ago! Unfortunately, this was made after the price of sterling had sky rocketed in price, which is being passed onto me and then you. Also reflected in price, is the time it took Tyler to make these. I do want to mention BTW, that bales by themselves are something he doesn’t make as a rule.
