Opals are considered both precious & semi-precious & are known for their "diffraction of light" qualities. These Opals were mined from the "Lightning Ridge" area of Australia.. Opals are also known for their wonderful "play of color", where with movement you see a prismatic rainbow color!

These are NOT doublets/triplet Opals, which are "Man Made" Opals & which are what sellers are calling "Opals" …These in this pendant are genuine, natural opals. (This is apart of what dictates the price)

THE PENDANT:

The pendant is designed in a beautiful cluster featuring the captivating beauty of opals, accented by a larger, deep purple amethyst stone. The iridescent, colorful shifting effect seen in materials such as opals or even abalone, create a mesmerizing play of colors, making it an ideal companion to pair with nearly any gemstone.

This versatility comes from the fact that colored gems can highlight any of the hues present in opals. With that in mind, the choice of amethyst was particularly fitting. The opals display a vivid palette of colors, including lime greens,periwinkles, fiery oranges and reds, as well as various shades of green and yellow. The base tone I would describe as a creamy, light yellow, adding warmth to the overall look. The cabochons are carefully set in sterling silver, and the pendant features an open back cutout designed to allow all the vibrant colors to shine through brilliantly.

It's designed in an understated 2.75" length (including the bale), ensuring it remains elegant and not 'over the top' like many of Federico’s larger, more boldly sized pieces. In my professional opinion, due to its modest size, this pendant will stay in balance when paired with a necklace from 18” to no more than 22". Necklaces longer than that risk the pendant getting visually lost against the body, and this is definitely a piece you want to have noticed and admired. Of course, the final choice is yours. The small-sized bale is designed to accommodate necklaces with a narrower diameter, making it compatible with a simple sterling chain or even a 5 mm round sterling beaded necklace—both excellent options to highlight its intricate beauty.
