This is a necklace that wow's me every time I look at it!! It has a very Mayan look to it, as if it would be worn by a Mayan leader!!
It's what I would call a well designed,perfectly made piece that stands out based on all the evenly matched square & oval cuts that were picked one by one for their size,shape & color. And it's these, that contribute to it's uniform-precise pattern..If the stones were off in size just by a few millimeters,this would not then have the precise look it has..
It is made with deep teal colored Tibetan turquoise, which is known for it's deep tonal value & very distinct black matrix, which gives each of these cuts the 'over the top' character they have!! The interior lay out is made of 12 mm square cuts,while the exterior outline is made up of 10 mm x 11.5 mm ovals. These 2 cuts are laid & soldered on the same sheet sterling & then each panel is hooked on the backside with heavy gauge jump rings. The center drop is a chunky 2" x 2" square.
There's a very generous amount of both turquoise & sterling,so this has some weight to it (Over 1/2 lb.!) & no where does this feel skimpy & fragile!
