This Federico Jimenez coral necklace is apart of a collection that comes from a influential Santa Fe collector who has had this stored away  & has been well kept, until asking me to sell it..It was purchased about 15 years ago here in Santa Fe...I have jewelry already posted from this collector & I will be posting more,so please check back!

DESCRIPTION:

Made with over 6 ounces of premium,high quality Mediterranean Coral that is getting harder & harder to come by & is now at a point that you can't buy it anymore unless you want to pay top dollar..Some artists are having a hard time paying for just a little 5 carat piece,let alone a piece of this weight & quality,since the price per carat has literally sky rocketed,because it is not being able to be fished, any longer.

Having a very traditional SW style,these strands are made of the 'good stuff' that came from years prior & is designed with very well matched tubular shape beads, that have a 'barrel' type look.You can see the holes & all the other characteristics that are inherit to Coral.Each are somewhat in the same millimeter range,so they lay proportionally & drape well, when worn.

It is obvious that each is hand cut,drilled & finished & are not machine manufactured! The color is a true red,rather than the orange-ier coral,nor is it a darker blood red coral.(Colors vary in photos & in the photos of it being worn,was taken in a different light & looks more orange,which it isn't) It is a rich true red.It is strung on a medium weight string & looks to be in great condition.

Most of the turquoise that is blended in the strands,are free form cuts of turquoise nuggets, that are used for accents & some of them look to have deepened from oils somewhat,which tells me that those are not treated,since stabilized turquoise can't penetrate oils.

There are 3 sterling beads & they are only on one side.. The beads are hand made & have a dark patina.

You can wear this as it is,or you can try 'twisting it' for a whole different look!(see photos)

This quality of coral is only increasing in value & has a timeless,heirloom quality.
