The remainder of the earring is done in sterling.

They were made with a substantial amount of silver which contributes to the earrings' substantial weight—(2.51 Ounces!). Because of that heft, there was no other practical choice but to make these into a clip-on earring that would otherwise tear the ear if they were post!
