EARRING PROVENANCE:
These historically designed earrings came directly from Federico and were displayed in his Oaxaca museum. Since his youth, Federico has cherished antiquities—objects with rich stories behind them—and has always placed a special emphasis on Mexican textiles and jewelry. He has been an avid collector not only of the finest Colonial-era jewelry but also of Native American antiquities and pieces from the Mexican Silver Renaissance, particularly from Taxco. His passion for historic pieces led to a collection so vast and distinguished that he exhibited these in the museum he founded in Oaxaca, bearing the names of himself and his late wife, where only the very finest items are shown (Belber-Jimenez Museo).

STATUS DURING THIS TIME PERIOD:
Metalmiths living and working back then, designed jewelry by hand and took painstaking care to ensure that the jewelry that was made, was at it's finest for the wearer. The jewelry that was worn was a symbol of “status” and personal style. Financial status back then was not only determined by the size house you lived in, but also was determined by the clothes you wore & the jewelry they owned & of course the materials in which the jewelry was made with..(I.E. Gold, Silver, Diamonds & other precious gemstones) The size of the jewelry also said a lot about how much money and status you had.. Being these are made with gold, along with having all these diamonds and Emeralds ,the original owner of these no doubt, had to be wealthy and would have been considered "refined" & in a higher class in society.

THE EARRINGS:
These extremely elegant & very romantic earrings are the perfect example of what was made & worn by the most elite from the turn of the century.
There are made with 5 movable tiered sections where each tier is hooked to the next by a small bar that leads to the next section. This is what helps to give them their fluid movement.
They are fully encrusted with small rose-cut diamonds and feature nine emerald cabochon accents per earring, which not only introduce vivid color but also enhance their overall pristine value. It’s difficult to state an exact carat weight once the stones are set, but each earring contains roughly one carat of emeralds.
I want to mention that especially during the last 5-10 years, Rose cut diamonds have been making a big comeback, mainly because of their vintage aesthetic. So if you’re somebody who desires a very alternative looking, more organic look to your diamonds, rose cut diamonds are the way to go!
The emeralds sit in a decorative bezel & although hard to tell,it does look like the diamonds have prongs(?) Typical of this era, the gems are mounted in silver & the backside tests at 12K gold, while the ear hooks test at 14K Gold.
Their age is validated by the "Back to Front" ear hook, a style that was very common in the 1800s. Trying them on, I initially thought it would be awkward and perhaps more difficult than expected, but I actually found it quite easy to put on! Of course, each person will be different — some will find them straightforward, while others may need a little time to get the hang of it. (see photos)
It's difficult to capture the diamond's full sparkle in photos, but they truly dazzle in the light! The earrings remain in excellent, well‑kept condition with no diamond loss, no loose or cracked stones, and the ear wires are still intact in their original shape.
** These are not “ Paste Diamonds” **

PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING:
I do not consider myself a 'professional photographer" but I do try my hardest to give you photos that are 'realistic" in color. Please realize that all monitors are different, so the materials can look more vivid (or duller) from one computer to the next.
To give you close up photos so I can show you all the intricate detail, pictures tend to makes everything look GIGANTIC & everything is more magnified than in actuality. So to get an idea of the size, please view them on the ear or you can pull out a tape measure & compare to my given measurements above.
