ABOUT WHITE BUFFALO:
Primarily found in the Dry Creek Mine located in Tonopah, Nevada, White Buffalo's distinctive white color is attributed to the absence of heavy metals such as copper, iron, or zinc. These metals are typically responsible for giving turquoise its striking blue or green hues, or combinations thereof. While it is frequently referred to as “white turquoise,” it is important to note that it is not actually turquoise but has certain visual similarities, as well as the area where it’s mined at, that can lead to this misconception. The chemical breakdown of this captivating rock consists primarily of magnesite and alumite.
Increasingly, within the jewelry industry, there has been a noticeable rise in its popularity, with more & more customers specifically asking for it by name. Buyers from all around the globe are in awe of this unique stone and cannot seem to get enough due to its striking “black chert” characteristics, which add to its distinct allure and character. It is one of those versatile stones that pairs wonderfully with nearly any color wardrobe and particularly enhances the outfits of those who frequently wear black, white, or a chic combination of both colors!
I want to mention that the White Buffalo I offer, is some of the best in the industry (See ‘Bracelet” listings) They all have their signature white & black coloring, which create gray colors you’ll see throughout. By having these gray tones, also allows you to wear it with any gray wardrobe!!
THE NECKLACE:
The necklace and earrings are meticulously made and thoughtfully designed by Navajo artist Mary Ellen Pease, who is widely recognized as the matriarch of the esteemed "WILLIE" family. And for those that follow this industry, she is also the proud mother of Ronnie Willie, who is a highly respected well known figure who’s widely followed in the jewelry industry.
While many might refer to the necklace as a “Squash Blossom” necklace, it is important to note that, technically and traditionally, it does not fit that exact classification. The necklace features a total of 10 intricately made panels along the neckline. Each side showcases some pretty chunky oval-cut stones, with 3 out of 5 of those stones on each side are wrapped in twisted wire. These wrapped stones alternate with two panels where Mary has placed her handmade star conchos at the north and south ends of these panels. The substantial size of the stones largely determines the necklace’s impressive 26.5-inch wearable length.. (excluding the pendant)
Sharing some of the spotlight, is the 4-1/8” tall pendant drop, whose size & shape is also dictated by the size & shape of each one of these cuts!! The center stone alone measures 2” and is beautifully framed by elongated oval cuts that add elegant symmetry. Completing the necklace is a 5-inch sterling silver chain (each side) that was entirely made by Mary herself, which also doubles as an extender. This design allows for versatile wearing options—by simply hooking the hook anywhere within the chain so the length can be easily adjusted to your preference, as shown on mannequin and photos 16 and 17. Both the necklace & earrings are finished in a contemporary mirror polish finishing.
THE EARRINGS;
Made in a classic 2 stone drop style earring, these are designed with basically the same shapes as what’s in the necklace. They are enhanced by a twisted wire wrapping & the design is finalized with hand melted tiny sterling beads & a star concho at the bottom. These do have a tad of weight, so for some, you may want to know what weight works for your ears before purchasing (See weight info below)
THE CUFF:
Made by the highly skilled traditional Navajo artisan Delbert Delgarito, who never fails to impress by consistently delivering the most authentic and traditional-looking Navajo jewelry, all while remaining deeply connected to his rich ancestral roots. This piece is thoughtfully designed in a distinctive "Row" style, featuring five carefully selected stones that span gracefully across the top of the wrist. Each stone is securely set in a smooth bezel, with delicate wire wrapping meticulously encircling every stone to enhance its beauty and durability.
Moving outward from the large rectangular center stone, the design includes three uniquely cut stones on each side that mirror each other perfectly. Immediately next to the center stone, there are parallelogram-shaped cuts, followed by teardrop-shaped stones, where one is positioned vertically and the other horizontally, creating a harmonious and balanced visual effect.
This cuff commands attention with its substantial and sturdy feel, as the stones are set atop of a heavy gauge sterling shank that features deep, intricate stamping towards the gap which gives the cuff additional contrast. Oxidation is deliberately preserved within the stamped design to accentuate the details and give the piece a beautifully aged, dimensional appearance.
CUFF SIZING:
Made to fit or either a man or a woman, this is made for a larger/wider size wrist that doesn’t need a wide gap opening to put it over the thickness of a fleshier arm. (1-1/8") Because of the gauge of sterling Delbert used, doesn’t make for an easy adjustment.. If you do need a bigger gap, you can always take it to a ‘reputable’ jeweler to have this done(As long as they have experience at this) But just know, that by opening up the gap so it can then go over the arm, is the only thing that can be adjusted.. It does NOT change the 5-7/8" interior. It does help to know your wrist size & what gap your arm needs before purchasing, since cuffs fit different than any other type bracelet, so it is important they fit right!
