RARE! Federico Jimenez- 1200- 1500 AD- Michoacan Pre- Colombian Figure- Turquoise Cluster -Museum Quality Earrings-(Belonged to Federico 's Wife Ellen)

$2,400.00

EARRING PROVENANCE:

I am honored to offer these earrings that came from Ellen Belber-Jiménez's private collection.. Ellen has been the wife to the famed jewelry designer Federico now for 56 years.. Destined to be together for life, the stars were in the perfect alignment when Ellen & Federico met down in Oaxaca in the mid-60's while she was there working with the UCLA Oaxaca Market Study Research Project & Federico was involved at that time in writing articles on Oaxaca's traditional Arts & Culture..

Having similar tastes as her husband,Ellen too was facinated in the history of Mexico, from the ancient Mayan/Aztec era, to the Pre-Colombian days,to the Colonial period & there really isn't much she, nor Fedrerico couldn't tell you about in regards to it's history..Her tastes for the jewelry & textiles of Mexico are exquisite & owned nothing BUT the finest & especially with the focus on Oaxaca. She & Federico hold a phenomenal collection of jewelry & textiles at their Museum in Oaxaca that bares both their names.

THE EARRINGS:

This is a chance to own these RARE Museum quality earrings that were made by Federico to give to his wife Ellen. The earrings themselves are vintage & were made back in the 80's,but it's the Michoacan Pre-Colombian figures that are even older than that,in fact they are 600 to almost 1000 years old!!!

The figures come from a 1200-1500 AD time line & started out as a necklace that Federico owned & what he did was took a couple of the figures off to make these earrings for her.I was told that the figures themselves are used to "Protect" the person wearing this figure.

The clay figure is bezel set & is surrounded by a halo cluster of USA turquoise that's very even in size to help give them they're perfect outer shape.3 Larger oval cuts that look to be Royston turquoise, act as the dangles..

These are one of a kind & you won't find another pair!!!
