Kewa Pueblo Artist-Warren Nieto-Ancient Ancestral Puebloan Inspired-Mosaic Kingman Turquoise Hoop Earrings-with String Connected Tab Dangles!
THE EARRINGS:
These ultra-stunning, exquisitely designed mosaic dangle hoop earrings were inspired by an ancient motif (see photo 2) and are part of Warren’s “Ancestral Puebloan Series.” In this collection he leads us on a journey through time with patterns that echo the mosaic jewelry some of his ancestors may have worn. The original design dates to approximately 1100–1200 CE and was miraculously recovered from Canyon de Chelly. The earrings pictured follow that historic pattern, but for these, we expanded the concept and added decorative hand made tab dangles for extra movement and visual interest.
The only difference between Design 1 and Design 2 is their length. Design 1 is slightly shorter overall; its outer dangles are shorter than the center dangle and form a subtle “V” shape. Design 2’s dangles fall more evenly and measure 3” in length. So please choose “By Length.” Otherwise, both earrings are exactly the same design.
Each one of the little rounded square cuts was carefully Warren cut and shaped one by one, so they could then be mosaic inlaid atop their wood backing. Warren paid meticulous attention to every small detail, ensuring they remain as historically accurate to the original era as possible. If you look closely you’ll notice the hand-cut tab dangles are connected to the hoop by way of string — exactly how the Pueblo people traditionally linked components long before metal jump rings were used. (Also see backside.) Warren also gave them a subtle matte finish, as if gently aged by time.
They are made with Kingman turquoise, prized for its blue color and matrix. Apart from the ear stem, there is literally no metal in the design; these earrings are completely fashioned using lapidary techniques, where careful cutting, shaping and polishing of each stone play a crucial role, showcasing both the natural beauty of the materials and the artisan’s skill.
In the last three photos you’ll notice these earrings also come in three additional sizes. In the first of those photos they’re made in a single-tier dangle style (but smaller than the pair featured in this listing). The second-from-last photo shows a two-tier dangle earring, and the final photo displays a bold, statement-length design with three tiers. Each size is priced accordingly and can be found under the same “Earrings 3” category. All three of these variations are made with a teal color Nacozari Sonoran turquoise

A PERSONAL WORD ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Kewa Puebloan artist Warren Nieto is a true favorite of the public and consistently ranks high at the very top of my personal list for many meaningful reasons. Not only do I consider him a genuine friend whom I deeply admire and trust, but everything Warren creates emanates directly from his rich Ancestral Puebloan roots. Living in a modern world has never let Warren lose sight of all the traditions of the past..He is one who lives & breathes his ancestral upbringing & it's the 'stories' that are passed down with each generation that are incorporated into everything he makes in today's modern world...Warren's Puebloan ancestry lived in the cliff dwellings of Chaco Canyon & it's their history that is passed on orally, with the rest being learned from the ancient walls inside the dwellings that were chiseled on the rocks.. It's these stories that are told of Pueblo life through a mosaic painting done in stones & shells that carry into his work & separates him from other artists.
