These fabulously designed are apart of Warren Nieto’s “Ancestral Puebloan” series & they are earrings that tell a story from numerous years ago...

ABOUT THE SUPER NOVA SUNBURST:
Called the Super Nova 1054, these earrings refer to the much-documented supernova of 1054 AD, which is now the Crab Nebula. This event was so bright it was visible during the daytime for weeks!! Chinese and Japanese astronomers in 1054 AD documented the appearance of a new, incredibly bright "guest star". The Ancestral Puebloan people were also ones that likely recorded the event. The supernova was visible in the daytime for approximately 23 days. It was so bright it may have been ten times brighter than Venus, and visible in the night sky for almost two years!

Anything & everything that refers to his Ancestral Puebloan roots, Warren has always taken seriously & can tell you just about everything during those historical times that had to do with his ancestors.

THE EARRINGS:

These rectangular drop-style earrings are made with a mosaic inlay of natural turquoise. The starburst top portions feature the Super Nova design, each centered with a round cut of iridescent abalone shell. The rectangular drop echoes the Chaco Window, a sacred architectural motif of the ancestral Puebloan people who lived there; you can search for the Chaco Window to learn more about its cultural and historical significance.

Keeping the design as authentically true to that ancient time period as possible, the tops and drops are thoughtfully connected by way of string, reflecting the traditional methods used long ago. Long before artists began utilizing metal jump rings to join elements, this original technique was practiced by the ancient Pueblo people, preserving both the functionality and the cultural and historical significance of their jewelry. (See photos)

The overall matte finish applied to the turquoise gives them a subtle aged appearance, enhancing their vintage type aesthetic. All these carefully chosen materials are expertly mosaic inlaid on a light color wood backing for a easier feel on the ears..

In order to give you close up photos so I can provide you with all the detail, can tend to make the item look much more larger & everything is more magnified & exaggerated than in actuality. So to get an accurate idea of how big these are, please either check them out being worn to get a rough idea (photos) or you can pull out a tape measure & compare to my given measurements.

A PERSONAL WORD ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Kewa Puebloan artist Warren Nieto is a true favorite of the public and consistently ranks high at the very top of my personal list for many meaningful reasons. Not only do I consider him a genuine friend whom I deeply admire and trust, but everything Warren creates emanates directly from his rich Ancestral Puebloan roots. These traditions have been carefully and respectfully passed down from generation to generation through a profound ‘oral’ history that stretches back as far as the “CE” years when Warren’s ancestors lived in the historic Chaco Canyon, Pueblo Bonito, and Mesa Verde regions of America, long before the arrival of any settlers.
