ABOUT THE MAZAHUA PEOPLE
The Mazahuas are an Indigenous people of Mexico, primarily inhabiting the northwestern portion of the State of Mexico and small parts of Michoacán and Querétaro. The largest concentration of Mazahua is found in the municipalities of San Felipe del Progreso and San José del Rincón of the State of Mexico. There is also a vast presence in Mexico City, Toluca and the Guadalajara area. The jewelry designs that come from the Mazahua artisans, were deeply influenced by the jewelry that was brought into Mexico by the Spaniards during the 1500's.The Spaniard's brought with them many of their designs, (including filigree) with many such as these earrings, becoming a popular mainstay, where this design continues being produced today.
THE EARRINGS:
These earrings have personally been one of my all-time favorites due to their delicate beauty and their authentic, undeniably Mexican look. The wonderful thing about wearing these exquisite pieces is the versatility they offer! I often find them to be one of the best 'go-to' earrings, not only when I'm proudly showcasing my embroidered Mexican clothing but also with all the various types of outfits in my wardrobe! They possess such a sweet, feminine charm with the charming little Palomas, but the addition of the Sleeping Beauty turquoise cabochon accents, really gives them a tad of southwestern charm!
They are extremely wearable without being overly extravagant, and they seem to convey more with less! Plus, they are incredibly sexy when worn! (Trust me, I know this because I own them in every gemstone color available!) They strike the perfect balance of neither being too big nor too small, providing that 'just right' look that complements any attire.
Made in a ‘metal art’ form, these earrings are entirely hand-fabricated by one of Federico’s skilled artisans from Oaxaca, who meticulously created all the intricate detailing you see in the sterling silver, right down to the delicate features of the doves that showcase their feather separation. Beautiful filigree wire elegantly follows the outline along the perimeter of each earring..
Palomas are a truly enchanting and very special bird found in the beautiful region of Oaxaca, where they hold a significant and cherished role in the local culture. These wonderful birds symbolize "Eternal Love," which is precisely why they make such perfect wedding earrings for that unforgettable day! They embody love and romance in every detail, radiating heartfelt emotions and sentiments. These exquisite earrings would not only be ideal for brides and wedding ceremonies, but they also serve as a thoughtful gift for any occasion when you want to express a deep gift of Love to someone special in your life!
