A PERSONAL WORD ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Living in a modern world has never let Kewa Puebloan artist Warren Nieto lose sight of all the traditions of the past..He is a man who lives & breathes his ancestral Puebloan upbringing & it's the 'stories' that are passed down with each generation that are incorporated into everything he makes in today's modern world...Warren's ancestral Puebloan ancestry lived in the cliff dwellings of Chaco Canyon & it's their history that is passed on orally, with the rest being learned from the ancient walls inside the dwellings that were chiseled on the rocks that have become his inspirations....

THE EARRINGS:

Made with an attention grabbing- intense blue color, these are made with a large square top that are all hand mosaic inlaid & which are used as the anchor for the turquoise fringe to hang from. But uniquely different from other modern day Pueblo earrings is for the fact that if you look closely at all the photos, you'll see how Warren takes us back to a centuries old time period when his ancient Puebloan ancestry in the Chaco Canyon/Mesa Verde region created dangles that were held onto the earring by way of string.. This was long before sterling jump rings were used to connect the dangles & come from a 900-1300 AD time period !! The string is then tied in a knot on the backside & burned to lock the knot in.(See photo 9 backside)
