BISBEE TURQUOISE:

Good Bisbee turquoise has always been one of the top #1 choices for the discerning turquoise connoisseur, and for very good reason. Renowned for its mesmerizing and extraordinarily vivid blue color, which are unlike the blues you get from other mines which makes it truly unique & highly identifiable. It also ranks high in 'hardness' among turquoise varieties, which means it keeps it’s color throughout the years & so you won’t see the ‘blue to green’ color that turquoise will end up turning, since harder turquoise is less porous. Because of it’s hardness it also does not require stabilization for lapidarians to cut and shape it.

Not only are the blues highly captivating with Bisbee, but you’ll find both quartz & pyrite in it which can be typical of this mine, since pyrite especially, was extremely abundant in the area. The reason is, is that it was introduced by ancient underground volcanic and hydrothermal activity. It played a major role in forming Bisbee's famous copper ore deposits. These matrix patterns actually help to enhance the stone’s character.

THE EARRINGS:

They may be only 2” long, but don’t let their small size turn you away! These are earrings where the exceptional quality of each cut takes precedence over their pint‑sized ‘quantity’, while offering a concentrated dose that far outweighs their compact dimensions!

These have an almost vintage, old pawn aesthetic in the way they were designed, and the stone cuts were chosen with excellent eye and precision—allowing those cuts to be matched beautifully from one earring to the next.

Very wearable in size and weight, these are designed as a three-tier cluster drop and feature uncalibrated cuts that are more slightly free-form than precisely matched from one cut to the next. With that in mind, the emphasis was on using only Bisbee cuts that share the same rich intensity and complementary matrix patterns, rather than forcing the stones to matched to the “T” in size and shape.(But you would actually have to look hard to see the extremely slight difference)

Also, not only have Federico’s prices increased, but the cost of sterling & gold have gone up in price as well and fluctuates on a daily basis. Factored also into the price for these, is not only the ‘LIMITED” stock of Larry’s turquoise, but also it's Federico’s name and his decades old reputation in the industry, the quality of the turquoise, the rarity, availability, the number of carats and the cost per carat, as well as the sterling cost that it took to make.. Also included is the need to compensate the artisan (And or staff) for the time and expertise required to make the earrings for Federico. These are just some of the elements that together explain and contribute to the higher final price of these earrings.

I do however, find this particular blue harder to photograph since I don't want them to come across too vibrant, nor too dull. Each monitor varies and also plays a role in how vibrant or less vibrant as something appears. If you need more photos, please let me know!
