DESCRIPTION:
Nothing spells out Oaxaca more than the Gusano earring, that happens to be one of Oaxaca's most traditionally made designs that go as far back to the Colonial days.
Personally speaking, the Gusano is one of my favorite Oaxaca designs, but not just for the Gusano design itself, but rather when they are literally "filled to the brim" with pearls that fill in the whole base of the sterling platform that they are sewn into!! The abundance of pearls gives such an incredible look to the earring & if you love pearls as I do, you will love these! Plus they have a minimized length & a weight your ears can tolerate!
The sterling base is totally made by hand where they make these little rounded 'cups' that then are used for all the naturally formed pearls to sit in.They are sewn in & then tied off on the backside(See last photo) Prong set faceted Garnet crystals give accent to the design & are finalized by a 3 pearl triangular drop..
