ABOUT THE ARTIST:

In comparison to some of the more seasoned and veteran Navajo metalsmiths, Geneva is still a relatively young silversmith who has learned her skills by learning the intricate art of metalsmithing directly from her mother, Genevieve Apachito. A true New Mexico native, Geneva was born and raised in Socorro, NM, and continued her upbringing in Socorro County, specifically in the small town of Alamo, NM. Regardless of her age or the number of years she has spent making jewelry, what truly stands out is how effortlessly making jewelry comes to her, a natural talent that is clearly evident in every piece she designs and brings to life.

THE EARRINGS:

Making this type of work look all too easy, it certainly is not. It’s a meticulous, tedious, and very time-consuming process, where each of these beads is carefully hand-melted one by one, then skillfully placed atop a sheet of sterling silver that has been given a rich oxidized finish. The backside of the earrings features a sleek, contemporary mirror-polished finish, providing a beautiful contrast to the darkened front.

Anchored from a oval cut of vibrant orange Spiny Oyster shell is a charm like cross drop that is designed with a “Cross within a Cross” . The hand soldered melted beads of sterling are carefully placed atop of a darkened sterling with a cross center that is raised above the base of the sterling. These earrings are very wearable in weight & size, while giving you the “Look of Santa Fe!”

I do want to mention that Geneva's ear stems are a little shorter than normal, so if your lobe is 'fleshy & thick' & you need a lengthier stem to accommodate them, then these may not work

PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING:

*****I do not consider myself a 'professional photographer" but I do try to give you photos that are 'realistic" in color as much as I can. I do however find that photographing anything with 'yellow' in it, (green & orange) a little tougher to photograph, since this color can come up a bit more vivid than other colors. Remember also, every monitor is different ,so while some can show something to be more vivid ,other monitors can make it look duller. .

In order to give you close up photos so I can provide you with all the detail, photos can tend to make the item look much more larger & everything is more magnified & exaggerated than in actuality. Close up photos tend to make the item look so large & then you get it in hand & you are shocked since the item is much smaller than how they looked in the photos..So to get an accurate idea of how big these are, either zoom in on photos 2 & 6 or you can pull out a tape measure & compare to my given measurements.
