ABOUT THE EARLY 1900’S REVERSIBLE "NUESTRA SEÑORA DE LA MERCED" (Our Lady of Mercy) HOLY MEDAL:

This religious medal depicts Nuestra Señora de la Merced (Our Lady of Mercy), also known as Our Lady of Ransom.

History and Meaning:
Origin: The title dates back to 13th-century Spain when St. Peter Nolasco founded the Mercedarian Order in 1218.

Symbolism: Traditionally, it symbolizes mercy, protection, and liberation from oppression. Historically, the order was dedicated to ransoming Christian captives.

Patronage: She is the patron saint of Barcelona, the Dominican Republic, and the Peruvian Armed Forces. She is also regarded as the patroness of prisoners and those seeking freedom.

Feast Day: Her liturgical feast is celebrated annually on September 24.

Elements: The medal typically shows the Virgin Mary holding the infant Jesus, often surrounded by floral or rays of light motifs. The inscription "NUESTRA SEÑORA DE LA MERCED" is an abbreviation for Nuestra Señora de la Merced, which translates to Our Lady of Mercy in English.

THE BRACELET:

Beautifully designed with the timeless elegance of freshwater natural white pearls and carrying a subtle spiritual vibe, this piece was thoughtfully constructed as a five‑strand bracelet.

The outermost strands are composed entirely of uniform 6 mm pearls, while the adjacent strands stepping inward feature 1940s French link brass chain that alternates with faceted brass elements from the same era, creating a contrast of texture and period detail. Each strand has its own distinct “voice,” but the center strand truly steals the show: it’s a compact treasure chest of charm!!! That central strand incorporates three different pearl sizes, culminating in a prominent 11 mm pearl at the heart of the design, flanked on either side by “Retired war‑era Swarovski crystals”. Decorative brass beads add antique warmth, and two chunky, sparkling pyrite (“fool’s gold”) nuggets lend weight and bold character to the composition.(See photos)

All the strands are securely hooked to an ornate, Victorian‑style hardware piece, and from one end hangs the Holy Medal plus a 1″ usable extender chain finished with a small “Angel Wing” charm. You can put the lobster clasp closure in any one of the links to adjust it to fit your wrist. (See photos 8,17,18)

Wearing these Holy medals is not what you would call a lucky charm; nor are they like carrying a rabbit’s foot, hanging a horseshoe, or rubbing a magic lamp. Instead, they invite us to open our hearts to special heavenly graces—gifts often relied upon for protection from earthly sin, spiritual attacks, temptation, and other trials. And personally, there is a quiet, almost magical sense of comfort and connection you’ll notice when wearing a bracelet like this.
