ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Originating from the Route 66 landmark town of Winslow, Arizona, John & his family later moved to Albuquerque where he then attended Albuquerque’s Indian School.. Lucky for us that he attended this school, since this is where he was 1st inspired to become a metalsmith, after meeting a friend there that taught him the ropes of silversmithing & you might say the rest is history!

John has now been at it 50 plus years & the impeccable workmanship you’ll get from this Veteran Navajo artist, is something that can’t be learned in a matter of month’s, but rather it taking years of repetitious work, that brought him to the level of where he’s at today. He’s a traditional Navajo artist who stays close to his ancestral roots & you will see this in everything he makes.

THE POLYCHROMATIC SONORAN GOLD TURQUOISE:

The rarity and the amazing colors that the Sonoran mine produces, are what greatly contribute to this turquoise’s popularity & appeal.. Producing some of the most gorgeous blues & intense greens & many times intermixed together, validates both the copper & iron in the mine. The cost of Sonoran Gold can deeply vary, since it’s the “Quality and Size”(Hardness & Carat weight) of the stone that dictates the price.

A NOTE: A turquoise stone's quality is dictated by its hardness and color, with high-grade turquoise being hard and vibrant in color. (Like this cut) When a lapidarian goes to cut the turquoise, is actually when the truth comes out on how high of quality the stone is..  Softer low grade cuts will crumble & break, so therefore need stabilization in order to be cut, whereas hard/high quality turquoise doesn’t need to be stabilized in order to be cut. “Hard” turquoise will also take a higher polish & have a super glossy spit shine finish (also seen in this stone!)

SIZING:

This is made for a wide size wrist, but for a wrist that is not "fleshy & meaty" since the gap only has a 7/8" opening.. John used heavy 10 gauge sterling, so this isn’t the easiest to adjust.. If needing a wider gap, you can talk to a reputable jeweler to see if they can do it. But just know, that the only thing by doing this, will be to enlarge the gap to accommodate a more meaty wrist, so it can then go over the arm.. It does NOT change the 5-3/4" interior.

Please know your wrist size before purchasing since cuffs fit different than any other type bracelet, it is important they fit right! If you're not sure or have never measured yourself, please don't hesitate to contact me!!Please click on this link to see if this will fit: How To Fit A Cuff

Also while there, please copy/paste the You Tube link, where they show you the proper way & the wrong way to put a cuff on.

PRICING IS BASED ON: You are paying for the name of the Artist & his reputation, the sterling cost at time of purchase, the artist’s time, the turquoise quality, the cost per carat for this type of quality and the amount of carats , which are all reflected in price.

PLEASE VIEW ALL PHOTOS SINCE THEY PLAY A ROLE IN THE DESCRIPTION
