ABOUT THE ARTIST :
Delbert is considered a Top Notch "Master Navajo Artist" that has been at this now for decades. (Born in 1955) He's an artists artist, that has taught & helped pave the careers for not only his nephew "DERRICK GORDON" but also many of today's traditional Navajo jewelers that you find in the industry.. He's the guy that they look up to when they need technique/inspiration.
Delbert sits high at the top of my list as being one of my personal favorites for many reasons, since it's not just about making a ring, a pendant or a cuff, but it's what he does in regards to the metal that makes each piece of his, literal works of art! No, Delbert's not an artist who does "simple-plain" designs, but rather one who artistically creates all the repousse and or heavily stamped applique embellishments you see, that are then layered & layered & layered atop of heavy gauge sterling, which then give each, their ornate artistry. These appliques are an art in themselves & are just as important to the design, as much as the turquoise is.
Like any artist that's been at it awhile, they end up developing their own identity & once you get familiar with his work, it's not hard to identify whose work it is. You'll know his work by the heavily layered 'over the top' embellished appliques, his use of high grade stones, the finishing, etc. And owning anything of Delbert’s is like owning any great piece of art,but only with his work, it's in 'metal/stone' form.
THE CUFF:
I can’t help but say that this is a cuff that leaves me speechless! I love to see an artist take their art to another level & Delbert does just that! Like I said earlier, this isn’t ‘just’ a cuff, but literally a work of art!!
Using the beautifully beveled, bright blue Waterweb Kingman cut for the center top, this cut equally shares the spotlight with what & how he creatively created the shank, inside AND out!!! On the exterior, he covered the ENTIRE shank from end to end by making the most gorgeous appliques that he not only layered atop of one another, but accentuated them with even tinier appliques, so the sterling would be fully covered with design! (Please see all photos!) BUT THE EXCITEMENT DOESN’T STOP THERE! The inside is even fully stamped ! ( see last 5 interior photos )
THE FINISHING:
One thing I love about Delbert’s work is that he instinctively knows how to bring the sterling to its maximum level of beauty! This is an artist who knows how much & where to leave the darkened oxidation, by leaving it the darkest in the crevices, so the lighter shades are boosted with contrast in order for the cuff to stand out, allowing all that Navajo beauty to come to life!

SIZING:
Because of the design & sterling’s gauge , this cannot be adjusted, so it's of extreme importance that you know your wrist size and what gap opening works best for it to comfortably fit over the arm before purchasing. This is made for an average sized 6-5/8" wrist ,(just 1/8” shy of being a 6-3/4” wrist) but because it has a 1.25" gap opening, this is meant for a bit more fleshy/meaty wrist..
Cuff's are one of the only bracelets that HAVE to fit properly, so If you're unsure, click on this link: How To Fit A Cuff. And while there, be sure to copy/paste the You Tube link, which shows you the “Proper” way to put a cuff on! I am an email away, so don't hesitate in getting in touch with me if you need!.
