ABOUT DENNIS HOGAN:

There is a certain style/look when you refer jewelry to be "Santa Fe Style"..It's a style,a size,a look that you will not find everywhere & Dennis 'owns' the name in reference. A TRUE Santa Fe favorite,(and I say that with honesty!) there's literally nothing that Dennis doesn't make that doesn't have a breathtaking look!! He's probably one of the most sought after southwestern Anglo artists whose work is very much HIGH in demand.. His jewelry has a look like no other, with un~matched workmanship, where each of his pieces are made the "Old School" way.. Known for his ingot jewelry, Dennis will start by melting the silver & then puddling the molten silver into a simple mold to form an ingot..Then with an anvil consisting of maybe a dense tree stump, hard stone or maybe a piece of iron, he pounds the ingot into a sheet to the desired thickness he wants. This is the perfect example how this cuff was made. Each of his pieces are then given the most amazing look based on his secret hand finishing that produces THE most beautiful, warm patina tones that have a look of the past.

His continued interest in the American West, while studying in Indiana,he followed his passion for Fine Art & moved to Abiquiu,NM..After having met another Santa Fe favorite "Charlie Favour" there,Dennis learned the lost art of leather work & jewelry & worked as Charlies apprentice before moving to Santa Fe,where he eventually started his own line of jewelry/leather.. He's a 'one man show" & has developed into creating his own identifiable style. He's known for his old coin jewelry, leather/sterling jewelry & hand forged Ingot sterling jewelry. You will also see at times Dennis's work being worn on DD RANCH clothing models.

THE CUFF:

My of my!!! Lucky for you that my wrist is so small, because this would be a cuff I would keep for myself! All the way around this is a real winner & it's not everyday you come across pieces this delicious! This has Dennis's fingerprint look everywhere you look & if you know Dennis's work, then you know what I'm talking about!

Made in a row cuff style where there are 9 well matched oval cuts of some amazing blue Bisbee turquoise that lay to the edge of the cuff on both ends. The width of the cuff is 1/2",so these stones are that tall.If you zoom in on the photos, you will see how he picked each stone, where all of them have this same type of matrix, which for an artist can be hard to come across this many that have the same characteristics! The smoky colored matrix is what I would call "Blocky" & are not just specks or lined matrix like you mostly see with turquoise, with these there are actual chunks of matrix. The color is incredible, with a vibrancy to drool over!

The cuts lay atop of his hand forged sterling shank where you can actually see 'work marks' that validate all the pounding he had to do to make it into a sheet. I tried my best to photograph this, but if you zoom in on photos 8 & 11,you can see somewhat of what I'm talking about. The thickness of the shank is about 2.7 mm thick,so it is not adjustable due to the design & the thickness. This is a stackable style cuff,so if you want, you can wear this in between other cuffs, but is so outrageously pretty that you can let this shine on it's own!
