ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Before opening his own shop in Taxco in the 1940s, Pedro began his career working for the highly collectible William Spratling at the renowned “Taller de las Delicias” in the 1930s. In 1939 he left there to join Hector Aguilar as one of Hector’s master artisans at the “Taller Borda”. Renowned for his flatware and a wide variety of stylistic expressions, Pedro rose to become one of Taxco’s leading Taxqueño artisans, earning a collectible reputation for his precise workmanship and consistently remarkable designs.

THE LINK BRACELET:

Made with an undeniable 1940s Taxco aesthetic, this bracelet echoes the classic designs produced during the Mexican Silver Renaissance, particularly the influential Taxco movement of that era. The piece carries a timeless style so authentic you could easily imagine it having been made in the 1940s or created just yesterday. Its enduring look and refined workmanship, ensure it will remain a cherished, lasting statement in the up & coming years to come.

Personally, I love a good design where you can clearly witness the creativity an artist pours into their jewelry, and it’s refreshing when an artist isn’t simply riding on the back or copying everyone else’s work. This bracelet stands out because it is thoughtfully and artistically constructed in a 6-panel, double-layered design & isn’t a design that you see on everybody & everywhere. The bottom layer features a rectangular shape with scrollwork visible at all four corners, while layered and soldered atop that base is a large cut-out triangle with a smaller triangle nested inside. Each panel is connected and secured with heavy-gauge, soldered “O” rings, giving the piece both strength and visual cohesion. Using a metal “chasing” technique, each shape features a fine line running down the center, and in this central area the metal was intentionally left with oxidation to deepen and accentuate the overall design.

For its size, this piece carries a satisfying, substantial weight — it’s not a flimsy, cheaply made bracelet but a well-made, durable one that was built to last. You can wear it solo or layer it with other link bracelets for a stacked look. Although the bracelet measures 7-1/8", your wrist doesn’t need to be that exact size, since link bracelets are designed to sit a bit loosely rather than fit tightly. I have a very small, baby-sized wrist, and when I wear it it drapes to the top of my hand without slipping off.

It lacks the "eagle" hallmark, which was introduced in 1948 and became a mandatory stamp applied to any piece sold within or exported from Mexico. Because the eagle hallmark was used from 1948 to 1979, I would estimate the bracelet's date to be around 1943–1946 based on its design. Although the piece was oxidized when originally made, it has since developed a softened, natural patina; I will ship it exactly as shown, as I do not believe in polishing away patina.

THE MATCHING EARRINGS:

Made with the same design as the bracelet, these 1.25” long earrings are made in a screw back style. You can wear them like this, but can easily be converted!!!!

PLEASE TAKE NOTE: For $15 extra, I can personally take the tops off for you & convert them with some vintage sterling clip on ones I keep on hand. You will have to let me know BEFORE purchasing so I can add this fee to the sale..I can also convert them with ear wires I have. The only thing is that the wires are shinier & new. I do want to mention that If you convert these to a clip on attachment or a sterling ear wire, I would definitely save the screw back tops & store them in safe keeping since they have the Pedro’s hallmark on them.(See very last photo)

HALLMARKS: Conjoined CP” inside a circle with Taxco on the top-Hecho en Mexico with 925 at the bottom of circle.

CONDITION: VERY well cared for! It looks like it was well kept and preserved in possibly an air tight storage.. For being 80 some years old, it is in remarkable condition!! Normal surface scratches. Natural Patina.
