Quintin Quam Sr. is from the Zuni Pueblo which is on the west side of NM & the people there are known for their intricate detailed work,from their phenomenal picturesque mosaic of stone & shell to their meticulously made cluster work.Whatever it is,their art is the most time consuming & personally, some of the most beautiful out of all tribal work & definitely something that stands appreciation...Quentin Sr.is a highly reputable artist in the industry that is very much sought after for his beautiful mosaic inlay work.

DESCRIPTION:
Quinton’s love of Hummingbirds shows clearly in this beautifully mosaic inlaid ring.Hummingbirds have a special place in the hearts of the Zuni people,since they pollinate the plants & crops,so they are a great help to the farmers of the Pueblo who rely on rain alone for irrigation.

This piece of art’ is totally hand fabricated by Quintin who meticulously inlaid this ring by cutting each & every one of these tiny,tiny stones (and shell) all by hand & then lays each within the sterling..It's a picturesque pieces of art,but in metal form. The detail is impressive & remarkable & how he made these with such accuracy should give true appreciation to this artist! When mosaic is done on this tiny of a scale, takes skill & know how that only a 'master artist' can do..This type of work is tedious,very time consuming & extremely challenging to work with this small of stone..

Flush inlaid into a thick gauge sterling face plate are cuts of pink "Angel Skin" coral that outline the perimeter & in the raised center is the beautifully crafted hummingbird whose is mosaic inlaid with it's wings in the air while his long beak suckles on the small marquise cuts of the angel skin coral flower with micro cuts of Malachite leaves below.The bird itself is made of shimmery, opalescent,colorful abalone for the head & the back side of it's body, while having a turquoise neck & mother of pearl cuts for it's wings..It's carved black tail gives it a realistic look to show the feather texture.

There is so much minuscule naturalistic detail in this as if it's a painting! And like any piece of art,this ring is made to be cherished & appreciated.
