THE RING:

Having lost a a wonderful mosaic staff member to Covid, little did Federico know there was a 'blessing waiting to happen" when another mosaic artist came along with some impeccable skills that are far above average when it comes to exquisite lapidary art & mosaic inlay work.. This staff member has actually become a top favorite of mine for this type of workmanship & every time I look at his work, I can't help but go on this 'workmanship' journey where you can witness his phenomenal mathematical & artistical skills that are so clearly obvious!!

This ring is a piece of "wearable art" that leans toward being 'abstract'..The figure is actually portrayed as a "Man/Butterfly" that has an exaggerated male head of Spiny Oyster, long Onyx black hair that is tied back with a cut of white Mother of Pearl. He is then designed with a Butterfly abdomen.Laid on the same sheet of sterling, are 7 linear shapes that graduate in size & which depict the butterfly wearing a feather "Chief" headdress. If you zoom in on the butterfly's face profile, you'll see where he even has a nose & mouth that have been chiseled in!

All these materials are hand cut & shaped by hand & each section is set in their own bezel which is then outlined with a twisted wire wrap. The materials it's made with are cuts of "Natural" Sleeping Beauty turquoise, orange Spiny oyster shell, shimmery white Mother of Pearl & black onyx. On the headdress, the materials are laid horizontally in a mosaic channel inlay.

This is totally up to you,but if you look at photos 10 & 11 ,you see that if you wear both rings together,not only do you get double the statement, but when worn together the butterfly portion forms not only a "Heart" ,but it’s outline emulates "Butterfly Wings!!! The rings are adjustable, so they would have to be adjusted to fit on your ring finger & pointer to get this result!!! I personally think the 2 look better together,but they do look great on their own!!

**Since they do have an adjustable bypass shank,I can increase these by no more than a size to a size & maybe a 1/2 ,but if you need to go smaller, this will be something you'll have to bring to your jeweler.**

I've yet to post the clip earrings, but have posted these rings, a cuff & this same design that was one of Federico's earliest pieces that's done in a pin, but instead of Sleeping Beauty Turquoise, the pin is made with some top notch old Blue Gem Turquoise & is a teal color.The pin is also vintage.
