THE PIN/PENDANT
Federico has been designing some of the prettiest Butterfly jewelry for some time now & this 'pin/pendant was one of his VERY FIRST Butterfly's that was made quite awhile back.. No it hasn't been sold & worn, but rather kept tucked away for many decades now..So it would be right to say, that it was that special for him to keep it, as if to say" this was where the timeline of his Butterflies began".

This fabulously designed butterfly is a piece of "wearable art" & is made with 2 artforms that are highlighted in it. One is 'Lapidary '(Stone cutting) & the other being the art of “mosaic inlaying". The wings are made with the highly collectible # 8 turquoise, which started from the large rock & then one by one each wing was gracefully chiseled, given a smoothed texture & then beautifully beveled along their scalloped perimeter..The color is fantastic & has a rich 'blue/teal" color with lots of warm brown matrix that gives character to the stone!

Their abdomen,eyes & the antennas are mosaic inlaid with Carico Lake turquoise,Orange Spiny Oyster shell & black Onyx. This style of mosaic work is done in a Zuni Pueblo style of inlay, with each cut fitting precisely next to the other..

This versatile piece can be worn as a pendant OR a pin & if worn as a pendant, you can't go larger than a necklace with a 4 mm diameter.As a pin,both men or women can wear this! Put it on your clothing,a hat,purse,shawl, a lapel Or whatever else you come up with! It does have some weight,so I personally wouldn't pin this on any fragile like fabric.
