ABOUT THE ARTIST:

In comparison to some 'veteran' Navajo metalsmiths, Geneva is a relatively young silversmith who has learned the art of metalsmithing from her mother, "Genevieve Apachito." She proudly hails from the beautiful state of New Mexico and was born in the charming town of Socorro, NM, where she continued to be raised in the surrounding Socorro County, specifically in the town of Alamo, NM. Regardless of her youthful age or how long she has been creating exquisite jewelry, it is truly remarkable how effortlessly this art comes to her, a fact that is clearly evident in the intricate pieces she produces. Like her ancestors before her, Geneva is what I would call a “Old School” Navajo artisan, that still makes each & everything that goes into what she makes! (All her embellishments)

THE TURQUOISE:

This elegantly beveled tear drop shaped cut of Kazakhstan Turquoise (Golden Hills) has all the attributes that we want to see in this particular turquoise. When we think of quality, it’s the color that this mine produces that is taken into consideration.. This has that true signature “Periwinkle” color that has enough light & dark undertones of lavender that give the most gorgeous contrasts, as well as having it’s signature dark red/brown brick colors. Like a fingerprint, it is a one of a kind cut with it’s own characteristics!

THE BALE:

The tapered bale opening has a 11 mm opening, but you do not want to put it on anything larger than say, an 10 mm diameter,(10 mm necklace is shown in photos) since you want the pendant to be able to move on the strand. As far as what length necklace to wear this with, I would keep it on the shorter side and wear it with a necklace from a 18” to a 22” length and longer, because of it’s 2.25” size.
