DESCRIPTION:
You might call Mary a "painter",but instead of using paint brush's & a canvas,this artist 'paints' her subjects in a mosaic array of stones & shells.. Mary stays close to her Anasazi ancestry while giving her own twist to this ancient art by tastefully creating jewelry with somewhat of a contemporary edge. ..Her artistic, colorful & highly creative mind mosaic inlays each one of these hand cut & hand shaped pieces in a Puebloan Folk Art" style that tend to have a 'abstract' edginess to them. These designs are seen through only one artist's eyes & that's the eyes of Mary Tafoya..

There was something SO irresistible about this necklace when Mary brought this in to me & was definitely a piece I wasn't going to let her pack back up & go back home with. Each of the 3 panels are designed to be different from the next & each are made in whimsical floral pattern where each are very colorful & unique! For those of you who are huge fan's of Mary's (like so many of us are,!) this has everything we love about her designs!

This necklace is completely made by Mary,where she cut & shaped each piece in order to create these 'Floral Paintings'.What I personally love is how when she cuts the shells, she'll then use their shapes to create these flourishing patterns!

The turquoise beads are also made by Mary where she "Hand Rolled" them & f your not familiar with the process of "Hand Rolling",it's such a time consuming process to make !! “Hand Rolling"”,means that each & every bead is all hand cut, from taking the stone (or shell) in it's larger natural form ,cutting them into 'workable' size squares & then one by one rounding & beveling ,rounding & beveling over & over till they take the shape of a bead!! So they are what you call "Hand Made" beads! These are so precisely made in a 12 mm size & they are so well matched in size that you would think they are made by machine!!

This is not "Over the Top" in size nor weight,but rather a size that says so much more than much larger size necklaces! It's a piece of wearable art & a "one of a kind" necklace to be cherished!
