Kewa Puebloan artist Warren Nieto doesn't create anything that doesn’t have a direct connection to his Ancestral Puebloan ancestry, nor does he produce work that lacks a meaningful ancestral pueblo story behind it. Rather than relying on a traditional canvas, tubes of color, and brushes, what Warren does is truly unique; he paints "Symbolic” Puebloan meanings in a stunning mosaic form that is artistically composed with vibrant colored stones and shells gathered from the earth. So, with that said, this isn’t just another Pueblo necklace set that you can find just about anywhere at anytime over the internet & in every gallery, but rather, a set imbued with a profound symbolic story behind it, adding depth and significance to its aesthetic appeal.

The Kewa (Santo Domingo) Pueblo culture comes through loud and clear in everything Warren creates, making it evident that he possesses a unique ability to "paint the story" of life within the Pueblo through his intricate craftsmanship. His work is not simply a random arrangement of mosaic pieces inlaid here and there to create a finished product; rather, each element carries significant traditional meaning and carefully considered symbolism behind everything he produces.

For instance, the "Rain Clouds and Lightning" seen at the top of the outer panels, symbolize the essential gift of rain, which is vital for sustaining Pueblo life through the nourishment it provides to the corn. The rain clouds incorporate vibrant apple coral ,serpentine, and a lapis & turquoise combo that enhance the artwork's deep cultural resonance. Below the rain clouds are both vertical & horizontal alternating cuts of shimmery white Mother of Pearl & black jet.

Outlined in exquisite sterling silver, then beautifully mosaic inlaid with vibrant Lapis, the central "Hand" panel holds significant meaning and conveys a deep sense of spiritual blessing. This piece is not only a striking artistic creation but also serves as a profoundly expressive and meaningful symbol. The hand is often referred to as the "tool of tools" because of its incredible versatility and multifunctional nature. In broader terms, it embodies essential qualities such as strength, power, protection, and healing. The three exquisite panels are affixed using a 'bone bale' which Warren has carefully secured on the backside of the panel, ensuring both stability and security. These panels are then strung together through tumbled cuts of lapis that have been cut down to size and given a smooth, polished finish through tumbling. The lapis varies in size, with larger cuts featured prominently in the center, gradually becoming smaller as they approach the closure. THE EARRINGS

Made in a distinctive 'Mirror' facing style, these earrings are designed with a unique left and right configuration, which mirrors the elegant hand of the necklace. They are also beautifully outlined in sterling silver, while their interiors are completely adorned with a stunning mosaic inlaid with hand-cut lapis. At the center of the earrings, a swirl motif represents the "Journey of Life," encompassing concepts of germination and emergence. This design illustrates the cyclical nature of existence, highlighting that everything is born, experiences the process of dying, and then begins its journey anew. Much like the humble seed of corn, we participate in this eternal cycle together. Furthermore, these symbolic earrings feature Kingman turquoise embellishments at the tips, which can even be interpreted as artistic representations of nail polish! The lack of intricate sterling work allows for a pleasantly comfortable fit on the ears, making them a perfect accessory!
