DESCRIPTION:

Jolene returned to her traditional Kewa Pueblo roots, intentionally stepping away from the signature mosaic style that the public has long associated with her. This AMAZING set was created specifically for the 2025 Santa Fe Indian Market, where Jolene infused an unexpected, modern vibe into a centuries-old traditional Pueblo design, blending heritage with contemporary influences in a truly unique way.

This remarkable set was designed where Jolene devoted many serious, painstaking, and continuous hours meticulously preparing it for the Market. She cut, beveled and shaped each and every component by hand with great care and precision. The necklace itself is a robust and impressive 15-strand creation, featuring numerous carats of carefully cut and then lightly tumbled Ethiopian Opals. These opals alternate beautifully with Kingman turquoise beads along the neckline, enhanced further by bold, chunky teardrop-shaped drops of Nacozari turquoise interspersed throughout. The creamy-colored Ethiopian Opals showcase captivating colors, including periwinkle lavenders, yellows, vivid oranges, and lime greens, all of which shimmer as the light catches them from different angles.

What truly sets this necklace apart and adds to its uniqueness is the choice of opal – a rare gemstone in traditional Pueblo jewelry – and the visionary idea by Jolene to combine the stunning Ethiopian Opals with classic turquoise, creating a harmonious and unexpected blend that honors tradition while embracing innovation.

Giving it an additional 6” more in length, there are 4 strands of 4 mm round Opal rondelle beads that are paired beautifully with the Nacozari turquoise, which is also expertly cut into tear drop shapes to perfectly mirror the neckline of the necklace. These strands can be easily removed if you prefer a simpler (or shorter) look, as they are tied on securely with braided string, allowing for versatile styling options.

THE 'SQUAW WRAP':

Perfectly done, the squaw wrap is a traditional technique that involves meticulously wrapping very fine string tightly over and over again around the necklace. Not only is this a traditional way of wearing these Native-made necklaces, but I personally love them because the wrap makes the necklace much more comfortable to wear, especially when you have a piece as heavy as this one, weighing in at 13.3 ounces. I believe that due to their smooth texture, these wraps feel much gentler and more pleasant against the skin on the neck. Additionally, I understand that Jolene likely used a very light wax coating to prevent the string from fraying over time. The wrap is long enough so that you can easily slip it over your head without disturbing or messing up your hair.

Depending on what kind of outfit you wear, will give this a completely different vibe.. So say if you wear it with some ripped denim & boots, will give you more of a casual Santa Fe’an look, but if you put it with something more upscale, will change the vibe entirely & will take it to a whole new level !

SINCE WE JUST STARTED THE ‘NECKLACE 2” CATEGORY,THE REST OF JOLENES NECKLACES ARE ALL UNDER THE “NECKLACE 1” CATEGORY! ALSO WATCH FOR HER TURQUOISE SUNGLASSES! (SEE LAST PHOTO)

To give you close up photos, pictures tend to make the item look much more larger & everything is more magnified than in actuality.
