THE EARRINGS:

Designed with extreme precision, these contemporary earrings are strikingly made to showcase the beauty of two aquatic gems. The hoop is anchored from a rectangular cut of abalone that displays all the gorgeous colors for which this shell is celebrated, revealing an extraordinary circular pattern of lime greens, vivid periwinkle blues and warm golden yellows. In the hoop drop, are precisely matched 8 mm round pearls,which greatly contributes to the perfectly formed hoop & each are set to sit at the same height. Achieving that balanced curve required a keen eye and exceptional attention to detail, as well as careful, skilled setting.

The material is set in a high bezel of heavy-gauge, mirror-polished sterling silver, which adds significant presence and contributes to the earrings' substantial weight—(70 grams!). Because of that heft, there was no other practical choice but to make these into a clip-on earring.

With the cost of sterling going into ‘increase’ mode and literally being out of control, the rising cost is reflected in what artists have to now must pay per gram or ounce for the metal.. Artists are now charging more because of this.

Also factored into the price for these, is the artist’s name and reputation, the number of carats and the cost per carat for the materials used.. Also included is the need to compensate the artisan (And or staff) for their time and expertise required to create these.
