Seeing these at 1st glance, reminded me of vintage Santa Fe'an jewelry that actually had a specific look that you just don't see too often anymore, that is unless you're in Santa Fe at a vintage jewelry store! It's something in the style, in the cuts of turquoise that have changed in color that happened over time & where & how those cuts were laid that make those now vintage items, look so fabulous! These present day earrings have that same aesthetic that are reminiscent of earrings that looked like they stepped out of Santa Fe in the 1940's, a look that even Ralph Lauren was popularizing back in the early 90's when he was bringing Native American jewelry to the for front of the fashion industry.
Using turquoise baguette cuts are something you rarely see in southwest jewelry anymore,so to see these is refreshing & make for a very unique design! And to add the Sleeping Beauty turquoise square tile cuts to the design, adds only that much more! They can remind you somewhat of the Isleta Puebloan New Mexican ZIA cross in how the cuts were laid..The baguettes have a different tone of blue than the Sleeping Beauty turquoise,so you get some contrast from have these 2 different tones.I do believe these will beautifully change color over time,since the turquoise is natural !(Stabilized turquoise stays the same throughout their duration)
They are made in true Santa Fe'an style that can go either way with what you wear..They're the perfect earring for the cowgirl who wears nothing but denim,but are classy cosmopolitan enough that can be worn with your most sophisticated outfit!
