A WORD:

I have been a collector of Mexican vintage now for decades & would say I developed through the years collecting mostly pieces that couldn't be replaced nor were massed produced.. This set is the perfect example of what I'm referring to.It's a remarkably made set where the workmanship really needs some appreciation for all the time that went into it & especially at a time when jeweler's tools weren't as plentiful like they are today..It's absolutely stunning set & has been in my collection for probably about 20 years now. Compliments never ended anytime I wore them!! You can wear these as a set or wear them alone with other pieces!

THE NECKLACE:

Made in a Cleopatra collar style necklace, this design is made up of where there are 13 vertically laid -trapezoidal shaped panels that have 5 marquise shaped sections that lay horizontally & are domed..These alternate with 13 shorter panels that have 4 rectangular shaped panels that lay flat. On the domed panels (The longer panels) these actually started as one piece of sterling & then carefully,each of the shapes were hand cut.. Both shorter & longer panels graduate in size.

It follows the curvature of the neckline & sits high on the neck. This set has a closure that I've never seen or had before & if you zoom in on photos, you'll see where there's 4 curved hooks & what I would do to put it on, was to hook it in the front where I could see & THEN turn it around.You always will know where the closure is by the bead that's on the top (See bead on top of bracelet in photo)

THE BRACELET:

Designed in the same way as the necklace but designed in a large statement size width!! What dictates the whopping width of this,are the 5 longer 3-1/4” length domed sections.Each of these are in a trapezoid graduated vertical shape that then alternate with 5 rectangular panels that have 7 sections per panel.The bracelet is wider on one end than the other & you can wear it on what ever side you want. On one end it has approximately a 6-1/2" length & on the other a 8-1/2" length because of the graduated-trapezoid shaped design.This length would be good for a small to small/medium wrist.The bracelet has 7 curved hooks for the closure & again, you'll always know where the closure is by the bead that's on the top (See bead on top of bracelet in photo)

It's pieces like these that make Mexican vintage so appealing to the buyer..And with this era's popularity only gaining more & more recognition, they will only grow more popular as we go back to the 'root' which was during the time of the "Mexican Silver Renaissance" days of the 30's-60's..This was a period of time where there was an explosion of jewelry that was being made by artists that have gone down in jewelry history books for their incredible workmanship, as well as design!
