Not only have the potters from the Kewa Pueblo Village (Santo Domingo) made traditional pots for centuries, but nearly all of New Mexico’s Pueblo’s have developed styles for different purposes which show all their deep beliefs & culture in their designs. Since the early decades of the 20th century, their clay work has been appreciated by a wider audience outside the pueblos themselves & have been collectible pieces of art that are collected by some of the finest buyers who appreciate this art... The Puebloan people have continued to use traditional techniques that were close, if not exactly, the same as their Ancestral Puebloan ancestors.

THE EARRINGS:

Kewa Puebloan husband-and-wife team “Angel and Ralph Bailon” specialize in making these charming little miniature storyteller earrings. If you aren’t familiar with Storytellers, they are the storytellers who orally pass down the many tales of their Puebloan past to the next generation, helping younger people know who they are ,where their ancestors came from in order to keep their culture alive as well as giving them identity.

These are made with New Mexico clay & are traditionally made and fired using an outdoor kiln. Anything made at this small of level, is something that really needs to be appreciated, especially when it’s made in this miniature size!
