THE EARRINGS
Small & very wearable onthe ears,these fabulously designed butterflies are pieces of "wearable art" & are made with 2 artforms that are highlighted in them. One is 'Lapidary ' & the other being the art of “mosaic inlaying". The wings are made of a soft minty green color of Carico Lake turquoise & then one by one, each are gracefully chiseled, given a smoothed texture & are beautifully beveled along their scalloped perimeter.
Their abdomen, eyes & the antennas are mosaic inlaid with Carico Lake turquoise, Orange Spiny Oyster shell & black Onyx. This style of mosaic work is done in a Zuni Pueblo style of inlay, with each cut fitting precisely next to the other!!
