THE EARRINGS

These incredible designed 'wearable art' earrings are made under the direction of Federico by the hands of one of his on staff master inlay artisans, whose work is beyond impressive to me & never seems to fail at doing some of the most impeccable & precise workmanship when it comes to this type of art!

They are made with a phenomenal teal color Kingman turquoise & made with 2 art forms that take skill & know how.. One being lapidary (Stone cutting) & the other being mosaic inlay work. As you can see,both are done beautifully & precisely. The wings & drop were cut down from a larger rock of the turquoise & then each have deep chiseling that accentuates their wing pattern & then are beautifully beveled, which give each sectional part of the wing their graceful lines & smooth appearance. The abdomen,eyes & the antennas are designed in a Zuni Pueblo style of inlay, where they are channel mosaic inlaid with Sleeping Beauty turquoise, Italian coral & black Onyx. This technique is truly time consuming, when you figure that each piece has to be cut perfectly to fit side by side as they lay in their mosaic inlaid form. The oval-ish drop is made from the same rock & also have been hand chiseled..
