THE EARRINGS:

These earrings showcase the creativity that emerges when an artist combines diverse shapes and a range of cut sizes to create a truly unique and refreshingly different type of cluster design. We love these for the fact that while they are indeed cluster earrings, they don’t follow the ordinary, cookie‑cutter cluster look—far from the “if you’ve seen one, you’ve seen ’em all” style that can feel a bit predictable and can actually get a little boring.

These are designed from old-stock Sicilian red coral, composed of five differently sized oval cuts arranged both horizontally and vertically, with a few marquise-shaped cuts added for visual interest. The color varies from a red to a warm salmon-orange-red, and that subtle range of hues creates attractive contrast and depth.

They are almost as wide as they are long and have a non-traditional contemporary vibe, which allows them to pair effortlessly with any southwestern coral collection, yet they can also be worn beyond the southwest without appearing overtly regional.

Unlike many of Federico’s earrings, these are not bad on weight & I find them to feel very wearable in weight.(Please see ‘combined weights’ below for you to decide)

A WORD ABOUT CORAL:

Anyone in this business knows how much the price of Coral has climbed to & has gotten so ridiculously expensive, which makes it unaffordable for many artists to even consider buying. In recent years, the price of Coral has skyrocketed & compared to a few years ago when it was at about $250 a gram, it is now over $1000 -$3000 a gram for the more ‘premium grades.

Coral is now on the "RARE" list & no longer can it be fished, NOR brought in the USA. (These reasons are reflected in the price) Everyday the price goes up & up & will never be the price tomorrow, as it is today & keeps rising.. Coral has become a collectible material because of this.

Factored into the price for these is Federico’s name and long time - decades old reputation in the industry. Also factored in the price, is the amount of carats and the cost per carat for the coral used..(The less availability, the higher the price) And lastly, the need to compensate the artisan (And or staff) for their time and expertise required to create these for Federico.
