THE EARRINGS:

Impressively made, these earrings combine two distinct art forms: intricate mosaic channel inlay work and the skilled art of lapidary work.(stone cutting). Both disciplines are extremely time-consuming, and I admire anyone who can execute them properly and precisely. Every single tiny piece of shell and stone is hand cut and shaped, so mastering these art forms can take months, if not years, to achieve the level of workmanship that looks clean and flawless. An artist needs technical knowledge, a mathematical mind, a keen eye for precise detail, steady patience, and exceptional care when working with such minuscule cuts. The smaller the pieces, the more time required and the less room there is for error—each cut must fit accurately into the sterling setting and be sized perfectly for the design to come together. So even though these are on the smaller side, the workmanship definitely override's their 1.25” length in size!

Made by Navajo artisan “B. JOE,” these pieces feature one of the Southwest’s most recognizable symbols — the “Naja”. The materials are carefully mirrored so the layout matches across each piece; if you zoom in on the photos you can see how the stones are aligned and are placed in the same positions from one earring to the next.

They are delightfully lightweight and extremely comfortable to wear, while still offering a beautifully designed earring that will complement the rest of your southwestern jewelry collection. And although these have that distinctive ‘signature’ southwestern look, you can easily wear them anywhere you live without feeling compelled to pair them exclusively with other Native-made pieces!

PLEASE NOTE WHAT PRICING IS BASED ON :

With everything literally increasing in price, these were purchased after sterling & gold went off the charts in regards to their price. This rising cost is reflected in what artists have to now pay per gram or ounce for the metal, as well as for their materials, which also have increased! .Artists are now having to charge more because of this, which is being passed on to me, then passed on to the consumer. Also included is the need to compensate the artisan for their time and expertise required to create these.

*****I do not consider myself a 'professional photographer" but I do try my hardest to give you photos that are 'realistic" in color as much as I can. Each monitor varies and also plays a role in how vibrant or less vibrant as something appears.

To give you close up photos, so I can provide you with all the fine detail, pictures can tend to make the item look much more larger & everything is more magnified than in actuality. So to get an accurate idea of how big these are, please view the photo showing them on the ear or you can pull out a tape measure & compare to my given measurements listed above.
